What’s OB approved gas cans these days? All the ones on the farm have about given out. Tried the racing cans or whatever you call them last go round. They were better than fighting the vent free ones. Had a few split at seam handles and the hose/nipple go to sh!t pretty quick. They like to turnover in the truck too. Anything better?

For the price, I like the metal Eagle 5 gallons. The Justrites are nice but twice the price.

How are you storing them? I’ve got two that have been shed kept for over 5 years and still look brand new.

That’s what my old oilfield crews used for spare diesel. We had a couple dozen and no complaints or failures. You can buy just the funnel or at least you used to be able to. We would just throw them out once they were so beat up that they made us look like a janky operation.

Those plastic cans with EZ Pour are passable, but get a metal Eagle if possible. Metal can Made in the USA. I dont want to live in a Chinese Plastic Paradise.

This can

With this spout

Had the Justrite Safety can (5 gal) and I prefer the plastic setup better.

I bought cheap harbor freight plastic cans and removed the internal plastic filter, replaced the spout and added a vent from a kit I ordered on Amazon.

Not all racing cans are the same. I've had several VP cans split on the seams and leak diesel everywhere. I bought some Renegade Cans and they are much better in my opinion. The plastic is a lot thicker/stiffer so they don't flex and tip as easily as VP.

Around the house, filling smaller tanks like lawnmowers and such I prefer the SureCan. The new ones seem to have some "safety" crap all over them now. Mine is plain and looks like this. I think the new ones likely perform the same.

Used and abused. Left in truck 90% of time if working on other farms for fuel trailer transfer pump and air compressor.

I have 3 Eagle cans. 2 for diesel and 1 for gas.

That sure can with the nozzle on the bottom is shite. The nozzle on mine broke after a little over a year and I babied that thing,

I like how my cousin handled this problem. His wife liked to go to garage sales and flea markets. He gave her a blank check to buy old fashion metal gas cans whenever she saw one. He's got a pretty good collection of old, simple, working, metal gas cans now.

Midwest metal Jerry Can from harbor freight. ( About 5 years ago I paid about $35-- now $60 )

Add your own vent.

You can get a new spout from EZ Pour ( yes their gaskets are shite)

Or take the spring out of the spout that came with the can and JB Weld it shut afterwards.

It's a shame that you have to go through all the extra shite just to have a good, functional gas can. You can thank your government for that.
