I'm guessing that's taking into account entire careers.

So having 3 years as a non-factor drags him down a bit, that's reasonable.

I don’t have a problem with Burrow being 9th, but how is Newton 3rd?

Yea, Newton being 3rd rules out the “career” being a major factor.

Burrow had one really good year and one great year. Newton had one great year.

On these kinds of lists, designed to generate conversation and no convey any actual knowledge, Joe always gets slighted in favor of Cam because LSU had talent around Joe. These media people would like you to believe that Auburn had the talent of a bad high school team surrounding Cam.

It's bullshite. They had SEC caliber players on the field with him, but that's the reasoning they use.

Not a bad list, but I'd definitely put Darren McFadden in there.

Cam didn't do anything at Florida. Went to a JUCO and had the one great year at Auburn so no the logic is not consistent.

One could definitely make a case that G. Dorsey should be on this list.

No one should care about any of these lists. Lists like this are so hard to make because you can find points for every player to be higher or lower. It’s almost impossible to be consistent because of the different situations, play styles, etc over the course of 25 years.

If career matters most I'm not sure how Mayfield is so far ahead of Tebow. If a single spectacular year matters at all, no way Cam gets in ahead of Burrow. In fact, why the hell is Cam ahead of Vince Young? In terms of sheer dominance on a field, Reed probably needs to be 1a with Suh

It looks like Connelly kinda just threw names up on a board and called it a list.

He's got the a lot of the right players but not the right order. When I think top players in CFB I'm thinking of guys that were absolute game changers that were head and shoulders better than everyone else when they stepped on the field.

1) Tim Tebow
2) Cam Newton
3) Reggie Bush
4) Vince Young
5) Joe Burrow
6) Larry Fitzgerald
7) Adrian Peterson
8) Lamar Jackson
9) Calvin Johnson
T10) Jadeveon Clowney
T10) Tyrann Mathieu

think bringing up the GOAT team debate detracts from Burrow's case and strengthen's Newton's.

that auburn team outside of Newton and Fairley was pretty average to below average, but you had 2 dudes that did shite of the legal and illegal means to not let them lose.

Yup…. Newton had a great year with crap around him. Baker at 2 is crazy. Hell I’d put Johnny football in over baker.
