This kid is no longer committed to Louisville and we are recruiting him. Not sure if we will get him. But we're on him. He's listed here as a RF, but he's listed on other sites as a catcher and as a shortstop. So he can play pretty much anywhere.

Starting pitcher that is also a starting outfielder is a lot to ask from a true sophomore

The roster is very talented. I could see 2-3 more guys sniffing that top 50.

No reason why we shouldn't have a good weekend rotation with these two guys plus the four to five transfers with experience.

Bear will have Henry Ford's picture hanging in his locker. He just needs to decrease the strike outs. I expect a really big jump with another year under Jay. People forget how raw he was coming in, still had a good freshman year, and he's already figured alot of things out. My fear for Bear is protection in the lineup (and that could very well end up being a non-factor) and a deeper overall draft next year.

Project, I’m kind of surprised to see Anderson that high and ahead of Shores? Does he project that much better to the pros? I’m assuming being a left helps hims and obviously the injury hurts Shores

How do you have No 8 and No 21 from Oregon St both at 3rd base, and Two Tennessee SS at 29 and 30?

I’m not. Not right now at least. He’s much further along in his TJ recovery—we’ve actually seen him pitch post surgery. He looked rusty at times and probably got tired during the middle of the season, but he flashed Friday night SEC stuff and with another full off-season in the gym and on a throwing program looks like he could add a few more mph to his fastball and clean up his mechanics and be able to locate even better. He has the potential to have a dominant season coming up.

Obviously being LH helps Anderson, and the timing of Shores’ injury hurts him. Scouts will want to see how he bounces back with his velocity, location, and maybe most importantly (for this year), how much can he extend. He came out of the bullpen mainly in ‘23. Can he take that next step and extend as a starter just 1 season back from TJ? We’ve got a lot of potential weekend starters, LSU may wind up being best served with Shores as a back end shut down guy.

Now because this could be Shores’ final season at LSU, I’m sure Jay will give him a shot at starting to try to get the most out of him and try to do right by him. But he not be ready so soon. One thing to consider is that he did redshirt last year, so he could come back in ‘26 and still have leverage as a redshirt JR if he feels he could significantly improve his draft stock with another year. Just depends on where he’s projected after the season and how much he thinks he may be able to improve that with another season.

But this mock is way too early and won’t look anything like it will in June. But as far as Anderson and Shores go, I think the 2 biggest things are simply:

1) Anderson showed enough this year that they expect a big jump and

2) Shores is currently an unknown until we see him pitch after TJ.

But who knows? Shores may work his way into the top 10 and Anderson may not have the year he wants and decide to come back. We’ll see. Gonna be fun watching all these arms and how they wind up settling into their roles.
