Joes refusal to drop out and Hunter...

I'm wondering if he is refusing to drop out because he can't pardon Hunter yet for the IRS stuff since that trial hasn't happened yet. There's no doubt the family puts themselves first over everything else. He knows if he isn't president, his son goes to prison.

He can pardon him for the IRS stuff now. It doesn’t have the be adjudicated for that to happen.

Wow. I didn't know presidential powers allowed for pardons pre trial. The more you know...

Would be part of his negotiations… “I’ll step out of campaign, but staying as President to pardon Hunter”

Pardon will come after Nov. 5 election. I think they will look at sentencing in September too. If it’s incredibly light, maybe he doesn’t worry about pardoning.

Technically Joe can't pass the campaign funding and Delegates to whoever until he's officially nominated at the Convention. The long knives are out, no doubt, and it will be interesting to see if the Democrats commit voter base suicide and pass over Harris. I would think Joe is going to hang around until January if he's the Nominee or not. Trump could make a magnanimous gesture and pardon Hunter, while at the same time pardoning those caught up in Lawfare and Jan 6.

If he wanted to pardon Hunter, he could have already done so. He could do it right now.
I doubt that is a sticking point.

Ever heard of a guy named Nixon?

NO.
He tried the magnanimity thing with Hillary last time. Look where that got him.
There is no playing nice with these people. They’ve sown the wind, now let them reap the whirlwind. No mercy.

He could, but he won't pardon him now. The optics would be too bad.
Mr. "We Need To Outlaw Guns" immediately pardons his crackhead son from felony gun charge convictions. The Republicans would have a field day with it.
Not a chance Hunter gets pardoned until after the election.

That is my big fear, that Trump gets elected and tries to be a good guy. He needs to weaponize the government to the full extent possible. It is illiberal; it is un-American; but it's what the Dems did, and they need to feel it in order to gain a consensus to turn away from that.

He wont spend a day in jail, period.

If cannot make legitimate decisions now how can he make legal decisions at all

Biden or at least family members aren't dumb enough to trust the word of Pelosi or Schumer about pardons. It isn't like they are going to put it in writing. Hunter is not about to let his get out of jail card slip away. As far as pardoning a future crime or conviction. I doubt if that would hold up in court.

frick them. Team Trump should find something to go after Hunter and the rest of them that will go around their damn pardons.

It's kinda amusing you think he has that ability to think.
He doesn't.
This administration has been a disaster. However, I happen to believe this blithe idiot when he was able to think well which was over 5 years ago, is convinced he is the best president in history. When a demented person just heard how good they are, well they believe it.
So you are giving him way too much credit by doing he can form complex thoughts like that.
He doesn't even know hunter was found guilty unless told about it.
And I'm not convinced he goes to prison. The democratic machine has been running for decades in the background. They will be fine. Besides, they will be getting a large cash payment if he leaves. So he will leave and they will work to keep the family free from prosecution.
He doesn't.

Hunter’s problem isn’t the gun charge he has already been found guilty of, but the tax charges.
3 felonies and 6 misdemeanors that all are pretty much a slam dunk. It is a 17 year max total, but my guess is something close to 2-5. What makes it interesting is that he has been convicted of a federal crime make the sentencing guidelines a bit rougher that could push that up.
