What exactly does JD Vance bring to the Table?

I honestly don't know much about the guy other than some info online, but for those in the know, what does he bring to the VP position and how does he compliment Trump?

My guess is connection to/votes in the upper midwest to try to break the blue wall. I think Trump wins Ohio either way, but having Vance on the ticket may help in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

He brings people on my small sector to the table, FWIW. Far right, Christian conservative "we might have to break up the country" types who've never claimed the MAGA label and don't have loyalty to Trump.
I'm not voting for Trump because of Vance, mind you. And I'm not entirely convinced Vance isn't a guy playing a part, but he speaks our language really well and he could be a very good ambassador to the non-populist far right who isn't well served by Trump nor by GOPe types. He's far smarter and more cunning than Mike Pence, if that helps.

He’s young. He can speak about Trump’s message and why independents should choose Trump, without sounding bombastic and ridiculous. He’s directly aligned with the rust belt demographic.
It isn’t a bad pick. Ignore the melting from people who think 8 year old insults are going to sway anyone. They’re emotional.

As they have been saying he is very smart and articulate. He has the pedigree of graduating from one of the lefts favorite schools Yale, however before that he was a Marine. He overcame a rough childhood. He was basically raised by his grandmother. His family was originally from Appalachia in KY but moves to Cincinnati to find work. His book Hillbilly Elegy tells that story and highlight the destruction of,the white working class in the USA during the late 80s and through the 90s.

Youth, well-articulated intellect, strong resolve. Midwestern appeal. I get it if you think there are better choices but I don’t agree at all that he is a bad choice. And, God forbid should they finally take out Trump, he will continue the work.

So the people who are somehow lead or inclined to believe something similar see someone who has actually changed their tune on such a notion (and can speak from the heart about how and why he did) is going to turn them off more?

Enlighten me. Who is the audience that says “well I was considering Donald Trump but then he picked a VP who previously insulted him so now I won’t”?
