Has Keith Law always been this big of a crybaby?

And by crybaby i mean huge bitch. This whole situation is not sitting well with me at all. i get he's a media shill for MLB but publically crying on twitter about kids pulling their names out of the draft to go to school is absolutely nuts.

for context:

I don’t even know what that means

“Let them scout you”. That isn’t how it works

Yes.

He's a massive count.

Schmidt could have said “I’m not going pro” in January and everyone of those scouts would have still been at his games

But when scouts try to tank your draft stock it's all good.

exactly, it's not like these scouts have to pay to scout the kid. And the industry line is a crock of shite too. you're watching kids play baseball dude, not building the manhattan project

Yes he's never liked college baseball and thinks all coaches do is ruin pitchers arms. Go look at his tweets from last year bitching about Skenes' pitch counts.

He takes it beyond it's logical end too.

There is at least some legitimacy to making that argument on Skenes behalf.

He was bitching about the kid from West Virginia this year who is not a prospect, was like a 5th year senior, and is about to start a non-baseball career but wanted to get WVU to Omaha.

Does he think it would be better to let a team draft him and then not sign? Clearly he had a number in mind and negotiated until the last possible moment to try to get that number. When no team met it, he withdrew his name. How hard is that to figure out?

Of course. He loves to take ideas that are somewhat reasonable at their core and then manipulate them to fit his self-absorbed views, often communicated in his typical snarky, off-putting manner.

i think what these scouts and MLB in general are having a hard time coming to terms with is how much of a game changer NIL is for college baseball in particular. they can get paid AND get the college lifestyle now

Oh no doubt. He's basically in the past pretty much said if you're a decent HS pitcher don't go to college.

The franchises are not having a hard time coming to terms with this.

There is no franchise out there taking it as personally as Keith Law is.

They simply take the name off their board and move the reports to the 2027 folder.

Keith Law is a chode.

He's literally putting blame on the kid. It wasn't a huge secret that he wanted to play at LSU. The entire industry KNEW the risk of spending resources on him.

Keith Law has always hated college baseball and he continues to get more butt hurt every year as more high level prospects are going the college route.

It's important not to discount that college baseball is primarily in the southeast and supported by a bunch of people that Keith Law finds himself to be both intellectually and morally superior to. There are massive political feelings behind his cuntiness.

I don’t understand why Schmidt has to make important life decisions based off the “career” of someone sitting around watching high school kids play baseball.

It is 2024 and countless ways to watch talent without traveling to sit behind home plate. Just watch film for Christ’s sake and selectively attend a couple of games. Law made it sound like scouts camped in Will’s yard all spring and left their families.

Thoughts and prayers for the warriors traveling from ballpark to ballpark to watch baseball. Hopefully one day we’ll have the technology to scout multiple baseball players in a day through something I saw in a dream called film

Law is portraying that he's fighting on behalf of all those overworked MLB actual scouts.

Really, he's just bitching because he probably decided he needed to suffer a weekend in Baton Rouge watching Schmidt pitch and now feels like he wasted his time and traveled to a place he abhors.
