We know. He was also a registered republican and he also attempted to kill Republican nominee and former President Trump.

But, supposedly also a registered Republican, so there is that. Most 20 year olds really don't give much of a rats arse about politics, so this is very odd as far as something like this goes. Political assassinations are political by definition but a kid taking a shot at 100 yards or so as a sniper....that takes planning.
Shooter was from Bethel Park which is south Pittsburgh.....over 80 miles away. So this was not some...I'll get up this morning and see if I could take a shot at Trump thing. He's not from Butler, PA or the immediate area. How long ago had this rally been planned? He had to scout out the area. This was not a crime of opportunity

I just told my wife the exact same thing. My gut tells me he was radicalized on social media.
He was a clean cut kid looking at his graduation picture. I would bet got in with the wrong people, grew his hair out and turned into a progressive. All the talk about having to take Trump out and Trump is Hitler from the left is a conscious plan to insight this kind of an act.

It would have been pretty tough to separate a 20 year old me from $15 to give to a PAC. There is no way that this guy is void from political influence. In fact he was likely consumed by it
