Friend is an accountant for some mid tier corporate and have been told to document his work for severance. They are outsourcing the accounting to team in India, seems pretty insane and shitty.

I get that capitalism at all costs for profits but at cost of American jobs, not sure how I feel about this.

No. But I and others at my last place of work were replaced by Hondurans. Jobwise, best thing that has ever happened to me. Landed at a LOT better company

I think hindsight is 20/20 but I do see a lot of LinkedIn posts of people still searching after a year.

I don’t think finding another job is the issue but rather there are job families that are moving over seas. These are white collar work not the manual labor we expected

I usually always know it's your post before I look up at the username. Like Crooked Joe, it's time to hang it up

They are doing this with some engineering where I work. It is not going very well so far. Your friends company is about to "find out"

I work for a major chemical company and they are in the process of moving customer service to India. For my customers it has been a total failure. Orders missed or wrong products shipped. Critical orders delayed due to 2 or 3 days of no response from the customer service team over there. We had dedicated reps for each customer and now a team handles it but there doesn’t seem to be any communication within that team.

The carbon they are reducing is US employees.

I’m an engineer and work in supplying fabricated O&G related infrastructure, and many of the O&G companies will outsource their engineering work to EPC based in India, and it is a disaster every single time. I despise having to work with these people, and their lack of experience and only knowledge of written specs is suffocating. I don’t understand how they are ultimately saving anything when you account for all the additional front end work that goes back and forth and inevitably pushes a project back. I’m not convinced they are accounting for the correct metrics to even measure this

Happening all over with larger companies, FedEx already outsourced to a 3rd party for data collection and they got notice the other day they were switching to a 3rd party In India.

It's called Bidenomics and the affects of the inflation caused by Bidenomics. Cost are up and companies ,just like families, are having to cut expenses where they can. Sometimes it's not about padding corporate profits, but rather being able to remain competitive and stay in business.

If the job was not being outsourced there would still be a chance he would be laid off. India professional services labor is about 1/3 of US salary and that does not factor in all the other expenses of carrying an employee on the payroll.

Most people do not understand how to get energy from point A to B. So, no. My job has never been outsourced nor have I heard of colleagues in my industry getting their jobs outsourced.
