This seems like a no brainer. Unless the Pels are exploring another option?

If they don’t want Ingram they can get that pick via Ingram in a 3 way trade … hopefully that’s what we are looking at .

I think they are being patient. They are seeing if anything shakes loose on the BI front, while also exploring what it would look like to piecemeal a frontcourt.

Maybe Ainge comes down in price to a heavily protected pick, maybe you can get guys like WCJ or next to nothing.

Maybe you finally make a BI deal that gets you the guy.

If all they wanted was one 1st then he’d be gone already. Ainge clearly wants more.

Pels should make a move for Kessler. We’d have the center position locked up and still have BI to move to get back assets

Kessler can fit into the Kira TPE without us giving up a player. I'd go ahead and get a trade done for him now and recoup the picks you lose in a BI trade which you can make later on

Protected first? Unprotected first? A 2025 first?

There are a lot of iterations on what “a first” means and Ainge will twist the knife to get the best deal.

Trade for Kessler, sign Paul Reed, wait out the BI situation.

I’d feel pretty good at that point. We’ve gotten better if we do that.

You’re speaking my language.

You add Kessler and Reed to our front court and I feel pretty good. Kessler, Reed, Theis and Missi should be a pretty decent center by committee with a lot of upside depending on how Missi develops

I just wish I had a better feel for what we can afford. I also have NO IDEA how to handle that rotation. Would now be something close to:

PG- Murray/ Jose
SG- Herb/ CJ/ Hawkins
SF- BI/ Murphy
PF- Zion/ Reed
C- Kessler/ Theis/ Missi

It’s a deep deep team for sure. But one that has some major fit and spacing issues in the starting lineup. And also one that is a tax team for the first time ever.

It said he wants at least a first.

For a guy drafted 22, who fell down their rotation and got sent to the summer league. Ainge is hoping someone will over react to him looking great against mostly scrubs in the Summer League, then Edey went and put up 14/15 with 4 blocks.

Most of Edey’s points weren’t against him.

I still think it’s possible to get both Kessler and JA/WCJ. If you can send out BI and picks for Kessler/assets via 3 way, and go get WCJ for some picks the center position is looking stout

We'd start the season above the tax, but we could get below the tax by the trade deadline. Similar to last year, when we moved Kira mid-season to get below the tax. Just gotta find a suitor for BI.

Also, were gonna have to start paying the tax eventually, if we really want to compete in the western conference. This team plus Kessler and Reed would be a real contender and one worth paying the tax imo.

You'd only be a tax team if you end this year still in the tax. You could take that team into the season and move BI at the deadline and then get under the tax if you want

My conflict is a team asking for a 1st and them playing said guy in Summer league.

You don't need Kessler to do anything but shot block and rim run. If we can get him for a first, you do it because he fits what we need. There is no stretch 5 out there that we can get.

Though I wonder how we can set ourselves apart as a Reed destination. It probably wont be with money, so it will have to be with opportunity. That opportunity shrinks some with Kessler on the roster.

We’ll probably get more clarity after Vegas when all the FO are going to get a chance to sit down and talk. If Vegas comes and goes without at least rumblings of framework for a BI trade, I think that all but guarantees he’ll start the season with the Pels.

Just show him how many games Zion has missed in his career
