Does anyone have any information concerning the $3K incentive for incoming freshmen at LSU to live off campus? Where to apply? Saw it on the news a few days ago and can’t find any links for it. We contacted student housing and haven’t heard anything yet.

I believe an email was sent to incoming freshmen that already had a dorm room booked. And it had to be within a certain distance from campus.

I paid $260 month for a 1br apt off campus at Auburn.

Summer Brook Apts on Opelika Rd back in the early 90s.

Too many students, not enough housing. Their enrollment will be close to 40,000 in September.

That said....on campus housing is nothing like what it was 15-20 years ago. It's a pretty nice setup these days.

I was in the last group to stay at Johnston Hall. Yes looking out the window was Tiger Stadium. But we had no heat and no AC which sucked.
They closed Johnston and moved half the dorm to Kirby and the other half to the Kappa Sig house. So I lived in a Frat House and had a pink parking tag without ever rushing.
Great location too. . Then next semester I moved with my neighbor who went to Southern a two bedroom town house on GSR1 for $425/mo. Then rented a house on Nicholon for $1360/mo. But it was a five bedroom and there were four of us.

They turned Johnston Hall and the two other dorms next to it into office buildings a while back. They all have central air/heat now.

I think it would have made a solid hotel if they could have put in more bathrooms. Could be a cool spot for gamedays.
