Paul Reed would be a great insurance policy at the 4/5 and might even work as a spot starter.

He isn’t playoff quality but he will certainly be good enough for the regular season.

They need to get him now as long as he isn’t asking for insane money. He would be a great option as the Larry Nance role as the small ball 5. We have to go find a center immediately, even if it’s just a rotation guy off the bench like Reed. He’s longer and taller than Larry but not as thickly built. Good rim protector for his size and you can switch him 3-5 on defense. Then you aren’t so boxed in by not having any centers on the roster when you go trade for the starter like Kessler.

He honestly fits exactly what Willie is looking for in regards to defensive switching. I agree we should sign him. He wont be expensive.

He would be a great backup at the 4/5. I'd rather just sign a few guys like him, Theis, etc.. and go center by committee, than force a BI trade for pennies on the dollar just to upgrade the 5.

A few people had him as a centerpiece in the 76ers trade for BI a couple weeks ago lol

But yea Griff need to sign him asap.

The picks were the main assets, not Reed. But most of us also didn't like the deal. Now, many would jump on it just to move on from BI.

Say you dont force the BI trade and he starts the season with Pels. Now ask yourself- do you think this guy- who didn’t get a deal and knows he will be traded- will now start playing team ball and take 3s? Or will he start playing selfish, try to up his stats and while doing so mess up possessions for guys like Dejounte, Zion, Cj and Trey. There’s a risk involved in trying to hold on too long as well.

At a point, it comes down to “Do we take a lesser deal for him?” or “Hold on and try for more?”

I don’t see the latter goes by well simply because he makes so much that, unless a team REALLY wants him, it is hard getting $36m in matching salary back that isn’t fricking godawful.

You take the lesser deal and hope to build around Zion. Sometimes you got to accept you fricked up. If he didn’t want to pay BI- he should have traded him last offseason or at deadline. Once again, Griff is paying for his past mistakes.

Imo just take a lesser deal, go all in on building a complimentary roster for Zion, even if you ‘lose’ the trade (who cares). Attach a bunch of firsts to BI if that’s what it takes to get Allen / equivalent. Have enough talent on the roster, need a center

I agree but I think the most realistic deal at the second is getting Zach Collins and Barnes (rerouted from Sac) for BI if the Spurs are truly interested.

Failing that, get what you can from Atlanta.

I think the skxers have low key had a terrible off-season.

How? They added Paul George and Caleb Martin. Added other role guys such as Gordon, Drummond, and resigned Oubre.

Whether you like PG or not, they landed the biggest free agent in the market- thats a win.

It is a case of “be careful what you wish for” then. They wanted PG13 et and got them.

Not a fan of Paul George. He's old, over paid a d going to fall off a cliff. Also not a fan of Martin.

Until the BI trade shakes out, I doubt we'd be adding any salary other than minimums.

Cannot imagine Theis gets more than minimum. I wonder why we have not signed him (especially with Zeller gone now).
