I am not inserting an opinion, just sharing the opinion of outsiders. Looks like they view our pick as a B+

CBS: 21. New Orleans Pelicans (via Bucks): C Yves Missi, Baylor

New Orleans has a young asset at every position except center, and this solves that. Missi has the same potential as Dereck Lively to be an early achiever because he's a natural rim protector and defensive presence. He should have been off the board in terms of his upside, but now he goes to a really good fit. Grade: A-

USA Today: Missi has the frame (7-foot-2 wingspan at 6 feet, 11 inches tall) and athleticism to be an impact defender in the paint and on the perimeter while catching lobs on offense. He will need to cut down on fouls in the NBA and is a liability at the free throw line.

Grade: B. Missi is one of the more raw prospects at the position in this draft but his defense should help one of the worst three-point defending teams in the league. The 31-year-old Jonas Valanciunas took the majority of the minutes at center last season so Missi is a developmental piece for the future

Sporting News:Grade: B+
Pelicans veteran center Jonas Valanciunas is an unrestricted free agent entering the latter stage of his career, so it was smart to target a big man.

Missi is a raw 20-year-old freshman with his best basketball ahead of him. The 6-11 big man is a ball of energy. He's relentless on the glass with explosive athleticism to block shots and flush lobs. He'll be a fun development project to follow in New Orleans

For the Win:
The Pelicans are likely going to need a replacement for Jonas Valanciunas, who is expected to test the market as an unrestricted free agent. They found someone who could eventually step in and fill that role with Yves Missi, who has fantastic potential as a big man. He has the ideal build for the position, he is an excellent rebounder who crashes the glass and boxes out hard. It may take him some time until he is ready to join the rotation, but if he can eventually play a role a bit like Dereck Lively did for the Mavericks last season, it would be phenomenal. — BK

GRADE: B+

Bleacher Report: Center was an obvious position of need for the Pelicans, and there is a non-zero chance that Yves Missi becomes this draft's top player at the position. He doesn't have a towering upside, but his skills should easily translate, and they are important to have in the modern NBA.

Missi feels easily projectable. There is a slight backhanded compliment in there, but it's more positive than negative.

The bouncy big man has all of the length (6'11" with a 7'2" wingspan) and athleticism to thrive in a rim-running role. He stays active on the glass, sends shots back at the basket and moves well enough on the perimeter to hedge and recover in pick-and-roll coverage.

A Missi-Zion Williamson frontcourt should already rank among the league's most explosive.

The Pelicans just shouldn't expect much else out of Missi. Maybe ever. He isn't a shooter, doesn't have a deep array of post moves and offers next to nothing with creation or passing.

Grade: B+

He doesnt have to be an elite shooter! They want this offense to have pace and move up the floor on a fast break! Half the time he will start it with a rebound and push the ball forward!

This fits the scheme!

Almost a consensus that it was a good pick, B level. Yet, 90% of TD is giving it an F-

Because deep down most fans hoped we never actually took the pick at all or that it will be traded for someone who makes our team better right now.

Yes, it is a great B+ pick for a team with every position set/ full roster/ and 5-10min to develop.

We aren't that team and are shite at development in general.

We need proven talent.

You guys need to stop with the Hayes comps. Hayes is a spoiled dumbass who is wasting his talent.

I've looked at more film of the guy, and sure, we could hit on him and this guy is Time Lord 2.0.

I'm just salty because I feel Holmes is NBA rotation ready and can space the floor. This guy clogs the paint. It just feels like a backwards move and Griff still hasn't learned his lesson.

Hayes with a brain and work ethic would be fantastic for this team. I hope he can live up to the hype we hoped Jaxson would become. Would be great fit, but it doesn't sound like there's much of a ceiling on the offensive end for Yves.

And that's why Griff is talking about what a good human Missi is. It's why Griff always talks about good humans now -+ because that was what he got wrong with Jaxson.

counter point. No one is trading you any player of value for the 21st pick in a terrible draft

That has never stopped Zion from scoring. The offense was fine with Steven Adams. 2 years ago Zion made Larry in the dunker's spot look like the 3rd best player on the team in that December run before pulling his hamstring in Philly.

One of the bloggers had some interesting analysis this season that the clogged paint has hurt Ingram even though it's something Zion is able to navigate. So that could be a problem, especially if Griff can't find a trade for BI, but being a shooter is not the only way to create space. You just have to be a threat, and what we saw from Larry 2 years ago is a roadmap for how Missi can be a threat.

I could argue in terms of the recent big men we've had (aside from Jaxson) Missi may offer the most in terms of spacing in his prime. Nobody respected Jonas or Larry outside of the paint. And neither were a real lob threat. At least Missi offers you vertical spacing.

Sure, I'm not saying it will slow Zion down, but we're not trying to have a "fine" offense. We need elite. 5 out with Z would be incredible. Imagine having Z with CJ, Herb, Trey, and a 5 that can shoot the 3 like Holmes. There's a lot of options in the pnr game you can exploit with it too.

It's all a moot point for now, but I'm not going to be excited about a guy that's 7 foot that only grabbed 5 boards a game in college. Holmes could've contributed now, Yves is a year or two away, and we need all the fricking help we can get now.

If Holmes was as ready as you think he is he wouldn't have lasted until the 22nd pick in a bad draft. I think the issue with Holmes is he's too much of a tweener, and that's going to especially hurt him defensively. He's too small to defend NBA fives and he's not quick enough to defend NBA fours. His lack of strength is going to be a really big issue on both ends of the floor as well. Give me Missi over Holmes.

On a team like the Pels with no center holmes would be our 3rd big.
