a film – certainly a Western – needs to have a plot, a bit of credible characterisation, and a structure that preferably includes a beginning, middle and end. Horizon doesn't have any of those.

That's brutal

Look at the first review and you have your answer why. “Western colonization”

They're trying to kill the film before it comes out so they can say 'see, nobody wants patriarchal colonizers!!'

But it won't work. This film is going to do very very well, especially over th 4th Holiday week b/c it has virtually no competition. I think it will easily break $100M domestically.

I certainly hope so.

Hard to guess what international appeal for a Western so If it doesn’t make 150 domestically the guys financing the entire series will start to get very nervous….

Needs to get to 200 to be where it can be claimed to have done “really well” imo.

i mean, costner isn't exactly known for being a MAGA hero so surprised they are hating on something he produced.

But why are their any transgenders included in the movie? We know Native Americans had two-spirit people.

It’s all bullshite. You’re either a colonizer or an isolationist so either way they’re going to attack you unless you’re dressed in drag with a rainbow flag, calling for the extermination of the Jews and showing porn to kids.

100 million won't be considered very very well.

Hell Costner confirmed he spent 58 million of his own money helping fund the films

I hope it's good and want it to succeed for the simple fact that maybe it would encourage more westerns to be made in general. But I can easily see this bombing. The budget, like most westerns, was probably pretty significant.

Though to be fair, they are already working on 4 of them.

Costner's Avatar. (I'm sure he's hoping for that kinda box office:)

Just perusing the top blurbs in the OP link, the reviews are good. I know what to expect, looking forward to seeing this on the big screen.

Just 16 westerns have gone over $100m world wide and only 8 domestically for their cumulative take.

Even if it had great reviews it would be a massive surprise for it to crack $100m opening weekend.

So clearly, like with The Acolyte, it's being review bombed.

Right?

Isn't that how this works?

I'm certainly not seeing it make it to $100m. I'll contribute my part, but it won't hit that.

I can't speak to other theaters, but at the one I generally go to in Collierville, it is showing on one screen, three showings only, and it's their smallest at that. Maybe 75 people tops. While The Quiet Place movie is on 3 different screens with like 43 showings a day.

Just looked at the two big theatres here and one has 8 showings and the other has 5. Both around the same amount of showings and size theatres as the biker movie and Bad Boys.

I'd be pretty surprised if it even hit 30 million opening weekend. I personally want to see it though.

If there were any audience scores then this might make sense.
