The Savannah Police Department confirmed on Monday that one of its K-9s, Officer Horus, tragically died last Thursday after being left in a hot car overnight.

According to Savannah Chief of Police David Vincent, K-9 Horus died following the completion of his overnight patrol shift in the small town where he had served his community for over three years.

WTF and how does that happen?

Unreal. Maybe one of the last things you check off after your shift is “Did I get the K-9 from the cruiser “?

As a cop with K-9 how the hell does this happen? You think the dog just let himself out? Did he not wonder where his dog was when he was sitting at home done with work? I would think it would be routine for this guy to let his dog out after a patrol.

Cop should be charged with murder of another police officer. That's wildly inexcusable.

Exactly they’re pretty much your personal dog/pet. I never leave the car without them coming with me right away

Gainesville, Fl had a cop do this a few years back. The real kicker was he had already been caught illegally executing his retired k9 partner a year or 2 prior. Absolutely nothing happened to Tommy Willcox for either event

The Deputy that was his handler should be fired and jailed for animal abuse.

The cop must have been drunk or high as shite to do something that stupid.

I hope the other cops kick his arse.

I can probably write the outcome of this.

"We have investigated ourselves and have found no wrong doing in this matter"

Give the officer the same treatment they would to one of us if we shot and killed the dog.

You’re really the worst. Even with something everyone can agree on, you’re still a shitbag
