quote:

A former North Dakota Senator is set to plead guilty to a federal charge that he traveled to Europe to have sex with minors on taxpayer-funded flights.

The disgraced Republican senator had traveled to Prague in the Czech Republic with the intent to 'engage in illicit sexual activity with minors' from around June 2011 to November 2016,' InForum previously reported.

Just another republican doing republican things.

(I know the next one will be a democrat. This was just too easy.)

From a legal perspective, is it a US federal crime to commit a crime in another country?

Or are they getting him on the conspiracy part while he was in the states?

From his pics, I assume he’s gay and was going there for boys. Looks kind of like Lindsay Graham.

The child porn was a while back. I think he’s facing charges on the Czech stuff.

I was just wondering what the legal mechanism was, since it doesn’t say what crime he committed in the U.S.

Thanks. That’s what I was asking.

I guess I could’ve just looked it up.

quote:

The United States has the legal authority to prosecute certain criminal acts that take place outside of its borders, known as federal extraterritorial jurisdiction. This includes crimes that are considered to be harmful to the United States, such as war crimes, bribery, and complicated financial transactions. Other categories of crimes that can be prosecuted under extraterritorial jurisdiction include:
Crimes against minors
The PROTECT Act of 2003 makes it illegal for a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to have sex with a person under 18 in a foreign country, even if it is legal in that country. Other federal statutes, such as 18 U.S.C. § 1596, also apply extraterritorial jurisdiction to sex trafficking of children.

Why don't they take him, and all other R's and D's that they know are doing this and Gitmo them? No matter what level of political fiefdom they attained. Send them down.

Already been answered, but even if the US didn’t prosecute on that stuff, I’d imagine they would get him on using tax payer money to fund the flights over there to do this stuff

He was accused of thrice traveling to Prague, Czech Republic—June 24, 2011; September 29, 2018; and late June 2019—to illegally have sex with minors. The trips were state-funded in cooperation with Atlantik-Brücke to "understand and integrate the various facets of international politics, business, academia and culture".

So let’s look here.

The two Atlantik-Brücke Young Leaders conferences receive more than 500 applications per year, from which 120 Young Leaders are chosen with the help of a steering committee of political, business and academic leaders.
