List is accurate. Boise is a racist city in a racist state with no redeeming qualities. Horrible place full of horrible people.

Plenty of college grads would be better off moving where they can actually afford real estate even if they take a lower paying job.

One of the worst cities for anyone to move to, not just college grads.

Baton Rouge is a 3rd world shithole, but a list that has New Somalia at #1 with Seattle, DC, & Atlanta in the top 10 is clown world on tranq cut with puberty blockers.

Over the years when asked why I had moved to Baton Rouge, I easily defended my choice mentioning cost of living high on my list of reasons. Friends were amazed at what I paid.

Desirable, housing remains quite inexpensive compared to any other city that I might want to live in.

Now I'm aware that housing cost is low due to a lack of demand. The future of the city and the State is looking quite bleak.

State bureaucracy, petrochemistry, and higher ed are the economic engine and simply will not attract new families or keep local youth.

I doubt that all the downward trends can be reversed.

A friend of mine posted this on FB a few days ago, so I looked into it. Baton Rouge got an "A" in median rent and single population, a "B" in unemployment rate, a "D" in young people, and then an "F" in population of people with bachelor's degrees, median income, and restaurants per capita. Put more simply, this grading scale essentially says that Baton Rouge would be a far better place for new graduates if there just weren't so damned many blue collar and poor people who lived there. I suppose I understand the logic from a “trendy” places to live perspective, but I’m not sure it actually captures what it claims to be capturing.

New Somalia at #1

Minneapolis is up there because it’s one of the few places with a ton of Fortune 500 companies offering new grads (with just a 4 year degree) jobs in 6 figures

And the whole Somali thing is overblown. It’s in a small area of the city. Minneapolis is extremely segregated so you never even see that area. It’s actually as homogeneous as you want it to be (see edina).

you can live in great, safe neighborhoods that still have affordable housing.

Minneapolis is a very underrated city, especially by ppl regurgitating the Somali bullshite without ever stepping foot in Minneapolis.

And this is without even mentioning the 3 large public lakes with trails around them in city limits, and the 100s of miles of bike trails in the city. 2nd only to Denver in green space per capita

Consider the source and look at the ones they have at the top. Young professionals would be much better served in BR than Seattle or San Fran.

I'll reiterate this as someone who moved from LA to Minneapolis last year.

It's not even close as far as economic opportunities, education, etc.

I always laugh at the comments here regurgitating the headlines they read about Minnesota being shithole while living in literally the worst state in the country by many metrics.

Look, I love LA and I do miss it. Mainly the people and the culture. People up here are different and it's hard to connect with and meet like-minded folks, but as far as opportunities and raising a family, it's a much better place to live.
