I’m terrified BI is on this team next year.

His trade value is shite. We aren’t getting anything of real value for him beyond maybe a role player or expiring contract. I fear Griff will keep him unless he feels he’s getting a good trade. I think he values BI about be what the league does. Honestly Dejounte Murray is probably the absolute max talent type guy we could get for BI and we might have to add to it to take Capela’s albatross if a contract. We can forget getting Murray and Okongwu both unless there is considerable draft capital attached. If BI is on this team it’s going to be poisoned from the start and that’s not saying BI is a bad guy either. He just wants out and the Pels do too.

You should me more terrified that they sign him to a ridiculous contract. Hes an expiring. If I’ve got to hold my nose for a year then so be it.

Pull yourself together son. Nothing has changed since the end of the season except we've had nothing to do but let our fears run wild.
I can't tell if this board underrates Murray or overrates BI, but they are really not that far apart. BI for Murray is similar level of talent with a better fit.
JV is gone, the Pelicans could actually use Capela, and his contract is not an albatross because it will be expiring.
You have no clue about this. This is you, and everyone else, filling the information vacuum with worst case scenarios. Step back from the ledge.

Need to step out of the Pels Talk vortex

Never fails. Everytime when we about to go trade someone... We go through the 7 stages of grief while we wait for an actual trade to happen and the dispair stage where we devalue our players is the worst stage during this mess.
As long as BI isn't making Max level demands like John Collins did when he sank the Hawks, we will be just fine.

It’s the off season. We get three threads a week. I love the over reactions. It’s entertaining at least

Literally nothing has happened since the season ended to change his trade value.

I don't understand why we couldn't trade him for picks. Then we could turn around and trade those picks for somebody else. It doesn't have to be a great player. We need to be more creative in our ideas..

Because you're going to have to take back some contracts in a trade with BI. So instead of taking back some unnecessary contracts, it's beneficial to find the players you want at the time of the trade especially for a team looking to compete.

That's not necessarily true. There are teams with space.

There's a reality where Ingram takes less than the max and says to willie "I'm taking 8 3s a game next year and it's Zions show, oh and I'm gonna lock in on defense"
Not this reality mind you, but there is one out there.

Shamit's latest article is mostly on the front office turnover, but he talks a bit about the Ingram situation, and like most of us fear, makes extending Ingram seem way more likely than Pels Talk would like.

Other interesting nuggets are the Pels don't like Jarrett Allen enough for him to be the major value in an Ingram trade, and they don't seem to like Garland much at all because he's an overpaid, short guard that would complicate roster construction.

I think there will be a great deal of posturing in the next few weeks. The Ingram situation is one that may just take some time to truly reach a resolution. The Pelicans do not see this as a situation where they must move Ingram. In fact, it is my understanding that the Pelicans will make every effort to reach an extension agreement that is short of the max. League sources describe Bryson Graham as a Brandon Ingram fan, and it is no secret that David Griffin is one as well.
Christian Clark has reported that the Pelicans are unlikely to offer Ingram his full 30% max, and the resolution of this situation is tied to what contract Ingram is willing to accept. Now that the finals have concluded, the Pelicans can officially negotiate with their own free agents. Finding a definitive answer on the Ingram deal will not only dictate the Pelicans’ offseason, but their future over the next several seasons.

Meaning Griffin doesn’t like the offers for BI and just like with other players who should have been traded earlier- he’ll hold on too long until there isn’t any value left. Meaning they let BI play out this year and then shop him again at deadline. Typical Griffin move here.

Didn’t Griff try this approach for years like trying to get Fox, and got nowhere. They wanted BI at the time and we said no.

If we keep Ingram I’m ready for the rebuild. Not sure why these guys love Bryson Graham. Apparently loves BI and drafts non shooters with the logic that the shot wizard will fix them.

I try to remain hopeful because there are three point guards out there rumored to be traded b/c of fit that I think are all about on BIs level value wise but would be a better fit on our team. So hopefully Griff gets one of the three.
My first two choices would be Trae first, depending on how much more we have to include besides BI, Murray, hopefully close to an even swap, and last would be Garland b/c he’s basically BI at pg. Hurt often and will be overpaid. But I’d still take him over BI b/c we need a pg and Trey to start.
If I’m the Cavs and Klutch is pushing Garland to get out, I’d take a BI trade and then go get Caruso. I think those three would be a pretty good fit.

If we are to take Shamit at his word it seems like Trae and Garland are out. Because both can technically be described as short and overpaid. Which means its Murray or they just hold BI till trade deadline.
