Authorities in El Salvador released video of a burning pile of cocaine worth eight figures as the country continues its crackdown on gangs and drug traffickers.
The cocaine was seized on May 10 from seven men in boats roughly 1,630 kilometers (about 1,012 miles) off the country’s coast, according to local authorities.
They were identified as two Ecuadorian nationals, two Colombian nationals and three Mexican nationals.
The 2.7 tons of confiscated cocaine was worth $67.5 million, Salvadoran police said.

No idea, 1,000 miles is a long damn way. I’d assume they aren’t patrolling the middle of the Atlantic but could be wrong.

I'm guessing they were tipped off about a shipment and intercepted it.

Exactly. El Salvador at its widest is 160 miles wide. 1,000 miles is about as wide as the Gulf of Mexico. That’s a long damn way out there.
