It’s SEC and ACC consistently in Omaha. The Big12 and PAC12 historically have had good presence.

I don’t understand how a conference of the caliber that the Big10 has can’t even have 1 or 2 teams in Omaha regularly. Is it the cold weather? I know baseball is very popular in the Midwest so it can’t be that.

Probably for the same reason the SEC sucks at lacrosse or hockey. I didn't even know the BIG 10 had baseball.

Cold weather and that’s it.

Can't have real practices in February. Unless you build an indoor baseball stadium which isn't worth the expense.

It's nearly a year-round sport here. It's a 6-month sport in Michigan.

Michigan made it to Omaha a few years ago and made the finals

Most of them don’t really have home games until conference play starts. They spend the first month and a half traveling down south of our west to play.

One of the dumbest questions ever posed on this website. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that teams who don't have consistent baseball weather until May won't pump a ton of money into a sport whose postseason begins in May.

For the same reason Spring Training is in Florida and Arizona in February. Baseball even at most SEC and ACC programs is not revenue positive. Baseball has like 11 scholarships and teams have double that or more on rosters. Plus there are the minor leagues. A lot kids out of high school take the money and sign with pro ball. Look at how many first round draft picks in MLB are high schoolers and sign to play pro ball.

Short season summer leagues like the old NY Penn league can be profitable with high school kids.

I know you didn’t break any rules but you may want to self impose a month ban for asking this question. Because you are bout to get fricking reamed here lol.

Come on man.

It's not for a lack of "slump busters" strolling around campus. I can tell you that.

Thing is, the SEC could become dominant in hockey too if the conference really backed it and schools offered it. Arizona State is getting good recruiting classes. Hockey players would love to go to a school at a place with great weather, hot co-eds, and a good hockey program that was financially backed and fan supported.

Athens in winter vs. Ann Arbor. Not a tough decision.

The real question should be why does West Coast Baseball suck so bad?

Probably because the SEC steals their best players

Because all the top recruits sign with teams in the south

Maybe if they move the college baseball season back a month it would help. Would be good for the game if the Big 10 was an elite baseball conference.
