I was really hoping they’d offer JJ, Hurley seems like he’d be great in the NBA. Would be disappointing.

As long as LeBron is there, every coach is a 1-2 year rental. He is fricking toxic.

He’s saying he’s a good coach so the pick won’t get better

Bingo.

Hurley with LeBum and AD, plus another star = no shot that pick will be any good. So you sell at its highest point which is now.

From a candidate that played in NBA but has no head coaching experience but is around NBA all the time to a candidate has neither played nor coached in the NBA but has multiple NCAA championships. That's quite a difference.

I think it's really risky for the Lakers. Hiring coaches with limited professional league experience seems to fail more often than succeed. Coaching professionals is a completely different experience. With some exceptions like Billy Donovan we've seen many examples like Steve Spurrier, Nick Saban, and Rick Pitino really struggle. struggle.

I would bet they are selling it as a 1 year trial with LeBron and if it doesn’t work out Hurley gets a lot of input for the rebuild.

I could also see this as leverage for Hurley to get a raise at his current job.

If you look at the article all that’s happened is they’ve agreed to talk more. That’s not nothing, but people are seeing this as if some sort of agreement is close to being reached.

What makes anyone think Hurley is anything but Rick Pitino in the NBA? If anything, the pick swap is more valuable because the likelihood of him hitting the ground running is extremely low.

Did Woj really write an article and say Charlotte Hornets assistant James Borrego?

You don't think other teams have the same info? It is a pick though and not just a swap, so more valuable.

Agree,. Potentially a very good move for the Lakers, but not sure why Hurley would go there.

Hurley is a god damn excellent coach. The only question i would have is how is he gonna handle going from being the boss of 18-22 year olds to handling the egos and personalities of NBA players. If he can handle that, then he's a homerun hire for any team.

How does that one work out? Detroit and Monty agree to nullify the contract? Detroit trades him to LA? Who is paying the picks on that one considering how bad Monty was in Detroit?

If I'm Detroit, I'd give them Williams and a future 1st to get rid of him. I would even take back a bad contract, like Vincent to help seal the deal.

Detroit can only send this year (5th) or about 3-4 years down the line due to prior trades.

You also can’t add players into a deal for coaches / front office guys if the Doc trade from Boston to LA is any indication.

Hurley is a good coach but no one can succeed with Lebron at this stage.

The first time Hurley changes a lineup that doesn't work, Lebron will start bitching and all the "he's never played in the NBA or coached in it blah blah" shite will start.
