If Bear comes back, I predict

a 40 HR season from him. His much improved plate discipline and raw power will be devastating to college pitching.
He will definitely play himself into the 1st round, even with being average at best defensively

He won’t see enough pitches to hit 40 home runs

Hard for anyone to hit 40. Teams will start to take the bat out of your hands and pitch around you. His on base % might go through the roof though.

Dude has just turned it on at the plate. Last year he couldn’t touch off speed or outside pitches. This year he had patience and dude hit bombs and it didn’t matter if it was off speed or fastball. Hoping like hell he comes back but not holding my breath.

Jones could work on his 1B reflexes but other than that he did pretty well. Those "hurry up and get up" plays is what he struggled at such as that play that ended up leading to NC's 3 run bomb. I think he might go pro but it would be nice to retain a solid bat.

All depends where he goes and how much he thinks he can improve. He still has leverage

It depends who is behind him..
Lead off.. Brown here?
Milam
Bear
UNC 3B
Pearson
Frey
Neal
Larson at 1B
SS.. Braswell moves up if he stays

He could make some more money if he
Loses some weight
Cuts down on K’s again
Improves even more at 1B
I get it if he goes. Will be interesting to see what teams think of him.
Imo if he doesn’t go in the top 75 picks lsu should feel pretty good. Basically top 2 rds

Also consider this
There were 3 1B taken in the top 5 rds last year
3.78 Brock Vradenburg, Miss St $916k
3.88 Tre Morgan $783k
5.163 Joe Vetrano, BC $364k
It is just not all that valuable of a position. And while his power is monstrous, his profile as a RH, bat-first corner player is not all that unique.

Odds are, he'll actually hit fewer HRs.

Oh man if bear cuts down on the Ks again and becomes a better defensive player he should make some money.

I think he’s a better 1B than he gets credit for but MLB teams tend to shy away from guys who can only play 1B
Most taken high either show some ability to play other positions, are left handed or are insane hitters like Torkelson.
Jones has a ton of power but hasn’t hit for average. which is improving.

I think we’d all love that.. but hitting 40 HR is not realistic.

He is scary at the plate right now, it’s to the point that everything that flies off his bat you expect to clear the fence.

Beneficially for LSU there is a few Jones type players that are gonna be selected before him. Tommy, Caglione, Kurtz, Condon are all bat first corner infielders that will go before Jared. There is also a larger sample size with those guys as all of them have had successful years. Jones won’t lose his leverage, he’s barely eligible, literally on the day of the draft. NIL can probably make it worth his while to return to BR in the fall.

So in this fantasy island, you have Jones coming back to be a DH which would hurt his draft stock? All because we have to get Larson's bat in the 8-hole?
