The whole podcast is an hour 35 minutes long, but it is a great listen.
Gained a lot of respect for Stan through it

I said at the time and continue to believe that SVG could have been a good coach for us, if it weren't for the pandemic.
If the coach is a jerk, players often form tight bonds among themselves, but players couldn't eat dinner or spend time with each other.
When you are away from your family and aren't allowed to hang out with your teammates, then it's really hard to deal with a coach cussing you out constantly. I really think that fed players' dissatisfaction with SVG.

I’d love to hear the whole story on this. For example, was it the whole team or just BI… There were less rumblings about Zions dislike and I think Zion would have benefited more from a stern father figure over a players coach. I think he’d respond to that more.
Stan was right about many things: point Zion, that Zion had to play to get in shape, that BIs attitude was a problem.
I wonder where we’d be at if we kept Stan and traded BI then.

Zion loved Stan
Zion has always loved being coached hard, he’s said that alot

It wasn't just BI. For example, it was clear that Josh Hart hated him too.

He’s happy playing for an even tougher coach in NY… BI killed Stan here, and it was bs. I don’t know if he would have worked out long term, but it’s clear that whole situation was not all on Stan.

Sorry Stan. That is very sad.

Wasn’t it Ingram that wanted him fired?

Leave it to Pels talk to take a thread about thread about suicide news and turning it into re-litigation of a season that is four years old within one page
ETA: I think I had a stroke while typing this. Not even going to edit it because it's hilarious to read it back out loud.

Agreed. Prayers to SVG and his family.
By the way you are definitely not Macnamara- he would never make a well intentioned caring comment like that.

Stan probably got a raw deal to some extent.
It’s rare that a coach is the entire problem.

Having first hand experience with this you never get over it, ever.
You can only hope to get through it and have more good days than bad.
One thing is for certain there is nothing left that someone could do to you personally that would ever compare to the pain of losing a spouse to suicide. Honestly part of you dies with them and it's a never ending struggle to make what's left of you feel like the whole you.

Just finished the pod, a very tough listen.
Love the way SVG talks about his wife though, that was great.

Beyond the COVID protocols and some players hating SVG, the other thing that I remember his tenure by is David Griffin bringing in Eric Bledsoe to be our starting point guard.
That was such a big part of our problems that year, and I wonder just how successful we could have been with a decent PG. Of course!, SVG kept playing him instead of putting him on the bench.
