40 years ago today, The Psychedelic Furs released "The Ghost in You" from fourth album “Mirror Moves”
Was also on their first compilation album “All of This and Nothing” released in 1988
“Inside you the time moves and she don't fade…the ghost in you, she don't fade.”
One of my favorite songs. His voice is so distinct and iconic.
Around the age of 11 or 12 is when music started to really become important and this was one of my first favorite bands. (Probably because of the movie Pretty In Pink)
They are still making and playing music and on tour now

Saw them a few months back with Squeeze. I was surprised that Squeeze opened for PF...honestly expected it to be the other way around. Richard Butler sounded great and was very "theatrical" with exaggerated movements and gestures. Not sure why but I sort of expected him to be more moody, but he was smiling a lot and you could tell he was having fun.

I’m gonna post it for you because it’s my favorite Psychedelic Furs song, too.

Heartbreak Beat is one of those songs that fills me with emotions. That is the best kind of song. Makes me smile watching the video. The song is so damn good.

Quick factoid: John Ashton of Psychedlic Furs produced the Sisters of Mercy's single "Alice."

Huge fan. 'Ghost In You' was used excellently in the film 'This is Where I Leave You', 'Pretty In Pink' so inspired John Hughes obviously, who had impeccable taste in music.
Would've loved to caught Squeeze and Furs show. Me and my chums saw Echo & Bunnymen at Joy in NO last week..great concert.
Wanna catch Silversun Pickups in BR next month.

thank you for posting. in college in early 80's at LSU and their music was so good. they were still quite unknown at the time outside of true alternative music fans. Just love them!

Saw them live once back in the day and they were a great live act as well. Richard Butler is a great front man.

I bought the tickets well in advance and it was billed as Squeeze as the headliner. Seems like they are sort of on equal footing in terms of popularity/legacy...so maybe they alternated the order of shows?? Not sure really.
BTW Squeeze will be in both Houston and Dallas in August.

I love that keyboard riff on Heartbreak Beat.
Richard Butler is one of those few British singers who doesn’t lose his British accent when he sings.

this thread wouldn’t be complete without this:
this version came out in 2014 during a period of great turmoil and tumult in my life
excellent example of how music transports you to a different time and place, i’ll never be able to disassociate this song from what i was feeling and experiencing during the moment i first heard it
