Was very wrong with the pitch timer. Has made baseball watchable again.

I was very against the timer and thought it was a gimmick that would be a disaster. It has been the exact opposite. Knowing that a game will come.in comfortably under 3 hours makes baseball watchable again.

I was the same way until I saw it work so well in the minor leagues. Definitely a games changer.

Remember everything they bring to the majors they try in some form in the minors.

There’s a reason they haven’t brought robo-umps to the majors.

The best form they’ve tried so far is a batter has the ability to challenge a pitch and the booth immediately tells the ump if it’s a strike or ball.

it somehow feels like there are less stoppages in an MLB game than an NBA game now. especially an NBA playoff game.

I never understood how anyone in their right mind could be against the pitch clock.

Pitchers and batters had both gotten out of control with their performative bullshite routines which were elongating AB’s.

Nothing pissed me off more than watching a batter take a pitch and then step out of the box to put his bat down, readjust both of his gloves, spit in them and clap, look down the baseline, examine his bat, take a practice swing or two, and then step back in. That reached insane levels in the late 2000s and made baseball almost unwatchable, as were the pitchers who were taking too long between pitches.

Putting punitive measures in place was the only way to combat it and give the game any semblance of a pace.

Some folks are baseball traditionalists. I'm in that group.

I think MLB should end the universal DH and make pitchers hit again in both leagues.

Those Redsox/Yankee games were the worst.

This would legit knock off another 10 minutes per game.

The pickoffs are unbearable

I agree wholeheartedly. The way they use the DH is not at all what they told us it was intended for. It was supposedly to allow the aging stars hang around a few more years by just batting every game and not having to play in the field with their worn out legs. More people would get the chance to see their heroes.
Instead, all they do is send up a .250 hitter, instead of the pitcher.
Make the pitchers hit.

I would think traditionalists would want to return to how the game used to be played before these performative routines became a thing.

Go watch any game on YouTube from the 1960s, 70s, or 80s and you don’t see this bullshite. To me, THAT is baseball in its traditional form.

Why do they need a booth when the ump has the best possible view…

What's the problem with the robo-ump?

This is where I am as well. I would be against it in principle but I get why they did it. People assume it is all about game length and while that was the main intent, the real benefit is game flow. The players were given ample chances to correct it themselves year after year, but refused to speed it up.

I feel the same way about the three batter rule. It wasn’t an issue until managers started using 4 different relievers to pitch to 4 straight batters. Just takes the air out of the viewing audience.

Why would you think this would be a disaster in the first place? It’s a timer to keep pitchers at a good pace. There’s absolutely no reason to think this would be some epic failure and frick the game up.

Baseball purists are so mentally weak.
