Again, considering the situation over there it's a legitimate speculation. Still (to your point), speculation is one thing but it needs to be kept in its lane (especially with tensions so high over there). It could just as easily (and even more likely) be due to weather.

This is going to be the tricky part. Even if it's weather, Iran is likely to privately present it as :jewsdidthis.gif: to their proxies (Houthis, Hamas, etc).

Considering they haven't been able to get into contact with the helicopter, wouldnt that at least signal that it was a bit more than a hard landing...

To me, it indicates either whoever knew how to operate the radio equipment was incapacitated/dead, or the helicopter was damaged badly enough that the equipment no longer works, or both.
Side note: I think it’s weird that the news isn’t being covered more widely in the US.
