Who does that benefit really at this point? I honestly don't know.

I guess I'm wondering what you are assuming here?

I have no beef with Carter. I think deep down he is a good man.

It's always a conspiracy. It can't just be a guy dying.

I think this goes about as well as Paul Wellstone’s did.

Try Bill or Obama, Dems.

Yes.

Good man who made bad decisions.

Biden is an evil man who makes bad decisions.

It gives them something shiny to point the cameras at for a couple of weeks.

And the second worst president we have ever had.

I agree. Thanks to Biden, Carter's legacy as the worst president of modern times got wiped clean.

Knowing what we now know about how the uniparty will work to destroy anyone who isn't squarely in their camp, it makes me wonder how many of the struggles that JEC faced were organic and how many were manufactured.

At least part of his issues were due to getting into a pissing match with Speaker Tip O’Neill around the time of the inaugural ball.

Having the kinds of majorities he had and still not being able to push anything through was kind of damning.

He was very ineffective, but Obama and LBJ were much more long term destructive. And yes, Joe (who I can only assume you are placing Jimmy second worst to) is infinitely worse than him as well.

He’s about a hundred years old; just go already…

I haven't studied his presidency at length, but it's my understanding that he was considered to be a relative outsider when it comes to business as usual within the Beltway.

I always thought Carter a fundamentally good hearted man, with a misplaced set of ideals (as I used to think about old style Dems in general) and ultimately overmatched by the magnitude of the office.

Unlike today’s modern “Progressives”, I never felt Carter someone who held malice for this Republic or a desire to deconstruct it.

True since he was mainly known for being a Georgia governor tailgating into office off of a prior racist governor’s win.

But he was also head of the DNC leading into the 1976 elections so he wasn’t fully an outsider. Arguments are he actually set himself up to win by how the caucuses and primaries were laid out.

Jimmy Carter was a good man that rose to his level of incompetence. He wasn't evil.

There have been other really bad ones. Pierce, Buchanan, Grant and Harding all come to mind.

I didn't even get the point there as being anything at all one of a "conspiracy." It was such a bizarre response.
