I am not saying they are in the same class but I would guess it's just that these are not "god's will" type things in that people are making choices for other people. IVF is not someone getting pregnant naturally and euthanasia is not someone dying completely naturally

She definitely out kicked her coverage

Harrison Butker has become a pseudo hero to conservatives since he is openly conservative. That’s where your downvotes are coming from.
I think after this little speech though Butker will lose the majority of that support
Doubt that. Criticism of him will get chalked up as cancel culture by the left and that'll be the reason to defend him and what he said will no longer be important.

He is devoutly catholic. They don’t like how the left over embryos get tossed.

IVF is creating life that otherwise wouldn’t be created thanks to “gods will”. Not sure why someone that says life is the greatest of gifts should be upset

I mean this school is catholic so they probably brought him in with their eyes wide open. He has given a commencement speech before and said some stuff, though he wasn’t quit this honest.

1) I’m not catholic.
2) most Catholics think life begins at conception
3) I guess they think that fertilized embryos by natural means that don’t implant are just part of gods will (just my guess).
4) I think they think the left over embryos (from a lab) that get tossed are basically chunking out potential viable lives.
But as a I said I’m not catholic. Just basing this off of my readings and discussion with friends.

By this logic, all medicine goes against “God’s Will”.
I guess that’s typical Christian Scientist stuff, but even the staunchest Christian scientist guy could probably find wiggle room to differentiate between that and euthanasia. Hilariously bad form to just lump all that stuff in there in the same sentence, while very likely having members of that same congregation who have either done IVF, have friends that have, or overwhelmingly support the idea
I mean being against IVF is like being against ice cream. Such a lose lose take to have that will not gain you many supporters

Or who were born as a result of it. Kind of fricked up to say that to an audience of people he doesn’t know. he could be telling some of them he thinks their mere existence is an abomination

Those who didn't fit in that category, Butker had more words for them.

What Catholics say is:
1) The creation of that life if IVF isn’t through the natural/unitive part of God’s plan. (For the record, Catholics would also say a child conceived out of wedlock similarly isn’t part of the unitive part, though it is of course natural.)
2) The nanosecond an individual is conceived (no matter how, whether naturally, IVF, surrogate, within marriage, outside of marriage, etc.) that person is in the image and likeness of God. That doesn’t mean the process was natural and/or unitive. It also doesn’t mean that person is any less special/worthy.
3) The IVF vs euthanasia in both cases are sort of “playing God” in a lab/hospice/not naturally, one at the beginning to create life, one at the finality to end life.
