Is this the Toyxus attempt at something to compete with the cache (For those who would care of the G-wagon

Something about it just looks weird. The lines seem off or something.

Shame this engine in the Tundra is having so many problems. In a couple years the bugs should be worked out.
They said that a couple of years ago in the Tundra, and it doesn't seem to be getting better. Still a lot of short block replacements (when the right move may be a just a total motor replacement) and some extensive cab-off repairs. It's actually far too common considering the relatively low sales of the Tundra compared to the domestic competitors.
It's a rare Toyota fail. But at this point I don't see any reason to choose Toyota over a GM or Ford right now.
That's specific to their twin turbo 3.4L V6, not the new one in the Land Cruiser. Haven't heard much about that one, bad or good.

I checked out a Lexus TX recently and I was disappointed with the interior. Lots of nice soft touch but super basic and lacking.

Compared to what? My wife likes the TX and I like the GX, but haven’t sat in or test driven a TX and haven’t even seen a GX in person.

Nothing says you're ready to go offroad like the Lexus grill / fairing.

1yr waiting list in DFW, only take deposits to hold spots as of now
One of my sisters finally got her lx fsport after a year and half wait. After hearing that, another family member just went ahead a got on the wait list for one. Figured they'd be ready in a year so, so couldn't hurt.
Pretty nice but nothing amazing. The difference between it's body style and the gx is pretty big. Gx looks horrible.

They really screwed those up.
Saying this as a Toyota truck owner - I don’t think I would own a new Tundra outside of warranty until they can go a few model years without so many major engine issues.
Disappointing to hear that the turbo V6 problem has metastasized into the Lexus GX. Or are those motors sourced from a different factory than the ones used in the Tundra and Sequoia?

The GX is manufactured in Japan.

Lexus is always behind on technology and plain af but the plus side is it is never in the shop.
A lot of people don’t want Americanized suvs that have every unnecessary gadget known to man.

We’re on the waitlist but test drove it and we’re not impressed with the interior. Like the exterior. Drive is okay for a body on frame. OT and OT+ range from $70k-$80k. Some dealers have ADM, but the even the ones selling at MSRP, are requiring PIOs like ceramic coating (the coating is fine elsewhere but from the dealer it is a crap product). Re: the Tundra engine issues, the ones in the GX are built in Japan vs the US for the Tundra, so GX buyers aren’t concerned. But I hate that they’re going to a supercharged V6 instead of sticking with the V8.
