Why is the west melting over Chinese "overproduction"?

I've seen this headline a few times in the last week and don't really understand what this is. What's wrong with flexing your industrial muscle and putting out lots of product? Do we not like free markets anymore?

You've always been consistent on this.

Free markets are always tempered against the reality of the rules they follow.
You can’t have a free market if the sides aren’t even playing the same game

Glut the Market.
Buffet sold a huge chunk of his Apple stock , what does he know?
All this affects the stock market , in a negative way.
Can't have those dividends being cut in this type of economic climate.
Oh neaux !

You absolutely can. Free trade can be unilateral, and still beneficial.

For the consumers.

State run market is not same as a free market. The whole point of state run is to disrupt a free market. Dumping inferior products with greatly reduced cost to replace say bridge or ship building have other costs downstream as the metal quality doesn’t hold up. Economic losses are one thing but health and welfare costs are another. Because of state control markets China in this case has become basically our supplier of medical care and this is very troublesome.

Not at the expense of the American economy and national defense.

Free markets have never existed

Yes. You have the option to buy better quality products if you need, just don’t whine about the price.

Pump and dump is a form of market manipulation.
It may be totally legal however.

State supports steel mills allowing them to sell at a loss which forces foreign competitors out of business.
Once competitors are out of business, raise prices as you control market.
"Why is this bad?"

Why is it ok to purchase unregulated cheap shite made by child labor in another country but not ok to allow an unregulated labor and manufacturing sector here to produce the same product?

The U.S. has anti-trust and market manipulation laws.
Not sure that applies to China unless it's buried in a treaty.

Not at the expense of the American economy
If this was a big worry for the people in Washington they wouldnt have incentived all the companies decades ago to move manufacturing work from the USA to China. This smells more like; we didnt care when the blue collar jobs were affected but now we are worried about the white collar ones and banking.
