These guys most often, if they ever get good, its for their 2nd or 3rd or 4th team, not the team that drafted them
Which begs questions.
Is the problem the rookie scale, the length of contracts, the lack of time the younger guys spend in the D League depending on draft position, or something else?
Are teams not giving these guys enough time or is the problem that, once you develop them, RFA and UFA means you don’t really benefit from them?

Nah some guys just need to change teams or be on the fringe of getting cut until they realize what there role and how hard they have to work to make it.
Chris Finch had an interview where he said NAW didn’t play any defense when we drafted him, and it took him a few years to develop that part of his game. NAW thought he was going to be a 20 ppg guy his first two years, wasn’t til after he got traded and bounced around that he realized he needed to be a defensive stopper.

Yup, the threat of getting kicked out of the league and losing all that money will awaken alot of guys.

Like others said, once he stopped trying to be like his cousin SGA he got better and more valuable for a team

And this never would have happened here under Willie

Was cheering for NAW and JHart last night for sure.
Same. I'm not a Denver hater by any means, but I'd like to see Hart, NAW, Naz do well.

The reality is the NBA is really difficult to adjust to and a 4 year contract is really not that long. If a guy has obviously figured it out during their rookie deal like a herb, trey or zion then the team will keep them. If a guy has not totally figured it out by their 2nd or 3rd year then they're probably trade bait because it's not worth it for the team to give them a 2nd contract and that team probably has another crop of young guys they want to invest in.
For every NAW that figures it out on their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th team there is a Kira Lewis or Jax that just never figure it out and are out of the league.
We gave NAW a ton of time and reps to figure it out here. It just didn't happen here, it is what it is

This is a great narrative for teams that can’t draft and develop

So is Hart.
Can't believe the pels got rid of him.
The pels need to sign someone like divencenzo. I'd rather spread my money out on a couple guys like him and malik monk(hypothetically)

Knicks have given him a much bigger role than most teams would have. I mean the guy played 48 minutes. Even blazer fans got annoyed by him because he was a reluctant shooter. Im happy for Hart that he found a perfect fit for himself in New York. I don’t think we would see that Hart here in Nola.
Also on sidenote- theres no way we’re getting monk. He deservedly will get a huge contract.

Could you imagine if they had never traded Hart and NAW? In their current forms Willie would be finding a way to play those guys 50 minutes a night

I was talking more in past tense and hypothetically.
Guys like divencenzo and monk cost close to nothing a year or two ago.
Hart does fit that knocks team perfectly cause he isn't asked to score much. He can still take the ball to the basket and dish it.
Hart played the same mins his last yr in Nola as he played this yr for the Knicks. His stats were actually better with the pels.

I wish Chris Finch was still on our team. Heck even Tim Connelly was in NOLA front office at one point too.

Hart has more of a prominent role in New York- likely due to other injuries- theres no way he would play 48 minutes in a playoff game with us. Regular season sure but in the playoffs Hart has played a very heavy role.
