Swiss Man Mauled By Bear in Cave (13,600 years ago)

Grotte du Bichon cave in Switzerland. They found a mostly intact skeleton of a man in his early 20's that has been reliably carbon dated to 13,600 years ago (Mesolithic period). Next to him was a bear skeleton with arrows in it. Examination of the bear showed the arrows were shot just before it died. They also found evidence that the man started a fire.
They came up with the following scenario: The man shot the bear, then the bear ran into the cave. Soon after that, the man came into the cave to smoke the bear out, but the bear got pissed and mauled him. A little while later the bear itself died not far from the man's body.
The man was 5'5 and about 130. They said that his skeleton showed signs that he was lean but muscular. (In those days 5'5 was average height). Analysis of his teeth proved he ate mostly meat. They also discovered from his skeleton that he was right handed.
DNA analysis shows he carried haplogroup I2a and they discovered he was of pure hunter-gather lineage (WHG). These were the original people in Europe before the farmers migrated from Anatolia.
Let's pour out a 40 for the Bichon Baw:

There may be a more random post on TD today, but I doubt it.

Had he been a woman, would have survived since the bear could be reasoned with.

How could they discern this?

Did you just assume his gender??

Zlacknach told his friends to hold his mead.

I am imagining his death was similar to the mauling in The Revenant.
That has to be one of the worst ways to die.

But how did they know he was a man?

Gary Larson Cartoon idea:
Primitive humans draw straws to see who goes into bear cave to see if it is dead yet.
Or paper rock scissors, but it's rock rock rock.

And they wonder why we don’t believe anything they try to sell us. When scientists discover anything, they feel compelled to give us some conjecture to go with it. Just give us the facts and let us draw our own conclusions. It demeans their profession when they deliver their thoughts regarding the scenario of the situation. Jeez

Netflix will soon announce plans to cast Beyonce as the hunter gatherer in the upcoming mini series based on the event.

See, I think his buddies poisoned him and sent him in the cave. Once bear ate part of him they came in and finished the weakened and poisoned bear off. Then they made a fire and ate the bear after removing anything poisonous.
I hate they create some story and push it.
