re: The goal of many Gen Z and millennial women is now to be a DINK—dual income and no kids

Depression will hit them hard when they are in their 50's.

I appreciate the attempt to be edgy here, but infertility among millennials/gen z is a very real thing and is a growing problem. You'd have to leave the house and get away from the internet to find that out though.
Carry on.

why have kids you're going to give someone else to raise? that's what a mom is for, to mother. nobody can mother your kid but their mother. you shouldn't have kids if you're just gonna stick 'em in day care.
Mostly because the dream of a one parent working in the house to make ends meet is fading one zip code at a time.

Pseudo?! Lol
Bruh, I was just typing my thoughts. Sorry you thought I was trying to impress you. I’ll dumb it down next time so you don’t have to type big words with silent letters in response. You can put your thesaurus away now.

It’s a shame the real housewives of section 8 housing don’t have this life goal

Meh. I’m not a skip your Starbucks and you are good to buy a house guy but will say a large portion could skip going out as much, be a little less fashion forward and start saving if they were into having a house and a kid.
The issue isn’t just finances in this call it’s more about lifestyle priorities and wanting to live like a 22 year old instead of caving and getting a crock pot. The generation was raised on self fulfillment being something other than family.

We can’t financially support kids because they vote for absolute idiots!

The easy natural flow that young men and women had; courtship, marriage, house, family etc is OVER. Only the most well adjusted psychologically and socially are following this path. If both came from good families it’s a lot more likely.

I tell my grandkids they'll have far less competition than young people have ever had. Most of their peers refuse to compete and are very confused over their role in this world.

And yes. Kids are expensive. Like you said, they get older. They eat more. People aren’t kicking their kids out when they’re 12.
I have 2 college friends with no children. One is a gay man and the woman friend never married. They both are professionals, one a CPA and the other an economist for the Federal Reserve. I’m jealous. They both retired at 62 and travel constantly. Like big trips. You don’t need kids to take care of you because without kids, you can pay someone to do it.

Not sure whose dream this is? It sure wasn’t mine. Like another poster said…it’s not 1955 anymore and I say Thank you Lord! It was good to be a kid or a white man. Tons of women were bored out of their minds and drinking or on meds. Nope. Not a dream for many women.

I have kids. I usually will not hate on someone for not wanting them for any reason. Parenting is tough and not for everyone. The worst are the parents who you know just wanted that box checked and are not active in their lives.

Honestly that doesn't sound enviable at all. They only have themselves to share that with and will have no legacy.
I know plenty of people at retirement age that do exactly that and have kids.

Hopefully enough people have children that these people to take care of everyone are around. Given birth rates, it seems unlikely.

And yet American women have never been less happier, less fulfilled, more lonely, more riddled with psychological issues, more depressed, etc than they are right now. Replacing loving and natural relationships with a “ I am woman hear me roar” box of empty platitudes, a team of therapists and 3 antidepressants is not really a good game plan for society or a woman’s sense of purpose.

Wow. This is exceptionally cruel of you. This is a thread for people choosing not to have kids. You are very aware that nurse tried for years and can’t have kids.

When these childless fricks get old, and reflect back on their lives they will find people working at their old jobs, people vacationing in their old spots, and they will be just a footnote forgotten in a generation. They will die surrounded by nurses and doctors who are collecting their checks. No thanks.

I thought it was just pure man-hating and boycotting any sort of household chore whatsoever?
If you think having kids is expensive, the cost of not having kids will really blow you away. The self-extermination just blows my mind.

I constantly see old childless people making excuses why in their old age loneliness is bliss
On the other hand, these people arent fit to be parents, so they are doing us all a favor anyway.
When people make excuses for their outcome, I often realize nature dodged a bullet in the long run. Party people arent meant to raise children.

Imagine thinking that just because you produce children that you'll be taken care of on your deathbed.
And I've known folks without children who were taken care of by friends and family on their deathbed.
