Who cares if a kid and his parents let him go live somewhere else or drive 30 miles everyday, to go to school and play sports there.

As bloated as school and district admins are, don’t tell me someone doesn’t have time to verify this stuff.

Nope they can’t follow every kid home or see custody docs

AGAIN. If every kid playing a sport at every school was completely vetted EVERY school would have an ineligible player. Obviously even private schools don’t do it.

[quoteI]f you followed every athlete from every school home 99% would have an ineligible[/quote]Not only that, but in my experience coaches always go over there allotted practice time. Even if just 30 minutes. When you start going by the book, everyone is guilty. We should be looking for egregious intent.

That's a choice, and not forced.

I agree with your basic premise, but think that you’re off with one HUGE part of the reality of the situation -
quote:
Boggles my mind that grown arse adults worry about where a child wants yo play sports Why do we care?
The facts are that most of these “children” aren’t suddenly deciding that they want to go play sports at a different school. It’s, as you say, the “grown arse adults” who are driving the majority of the transferring.
The reason that the rules are in place is not to curb the desires of the kids, but to keep the adults under control.
Edit to correct typo: the children Aren’t suddenly deciding

I fail to see the issue.
If everyone is cheating, bust everyone.

If 10% of coaches break the rule, and get away with it, they have an advantage. So now, the other 90% need to break the rule just to catch up.
If the association is powerless to enforce rules, why even have rules??

People know where the kids live. They don’t hide it well especially in this social media age.

Why not? Playing sports is not a right.

I disagree completely.

His Liv On team that is on the EYBL circuit is 1-5 and in 16th place in the Raveling conference. Seems to me he is in over his head. Little bit of difference from Div. 3 select. Playing and coaching with the big boys and he can recruit whoever he wants now it is legal. I keep hearing he wants a college job someone better take a look at his skills aganist the best.

Yea seeing how he does against teams with similar skills is eye opening. He lost several games this year against teams with weaker players. I judge coaches on what they do with the talent they have. The best coaching job I've seen was by a small school coach that went 8-20 one year. Most coaches go 2-26 with that team against that schedule. He found a way to win 8 while most coaches would have just went through the motions and complained about the talent they had.

I agree 100%.
If you watch small school basketball you will see some tremendous coaches.

Newman lost three games to in-state opponents. Two of those losses were at the STM Sunkist Shootout in games he wasn't allowed to coach. Chris Cenac didn't play in those games either.
Livingston was reinstated for their final game at the tourney, which was a win.
They lost several games to out of state teams that I know nothing about.
