George of the Jungle (1997)

Introduced the 6 year old to this awhile back and now she’s asking to watch it on a fairly regular basis. Forgot how funny this bad boy was especially with the breaking the 4th wall and poking fun at itself. Classic Brendan Fraser at his best.
I just don’t see why Disney refuses to replicate the formula of some of these 90s live action movies. Were they cinematic masterpieces (at least in the sense of what is deemed a masterpiece by critics and some of the general public) ? No. But they were entertaining well done movies that the whole family can enjoy which is a far cry from some their latest ventures into the non-animated section of motion pictures.

I LOVE this movie. I think I’ve started many threads of it on here. It’s a cinematic masterpiece

Brendan Fraser does the bumbling idiot in a very likeable way,
that was and still is a great movie at a time they were still making good movies instead of woke arse crap

George of the Jungle >>> Encino Man

Brendan Fraser was incredible in the 90’s.
Encino Man
The Mummy
George of the Jungle
Dudley Do-Right
Blast from the Past
Still Breathing
I enjoyed the Mummy returns, and Journey to the Center of the Earth in the 2000’s as well. It’s a shame he was blacklisted from Hollywood for so long. Probably one of the most genuine people out there in Hollywood.

One of my all-time favorite movies! Still hilarious to this day, and started my life long crush on Leslie Mann.

Remember seeing this in theaters when I was 9. Loved it. Watched the VHS a lot too. Leslie Mann

Don't forget Bedazzled, it's one of the few movies where I think the remake is as good as the original.

Also had a great recurring character in Scrubs in the mid 2000s.

Another example of Hollywood releasing multiple movies with the same theme within a short time period.
Jungle 2 jungle with Tim Allen came out in March while George was released in July.
Two films, both by Disney and released within months of one another, about white kids left in the jungle who return to civilization and commit hijinks in the city.

I miss when we had fun movies like this that didn't push agendas.

Don’t forget the original with Dudley Moore and Peter Cook (and Raquel Welch).

Thomas Haden Church as Lyle stole the show for me. I rewatched it recently & he perfects the snobby douchebag character so well. I laughed so hard.
The native Africans in the movie were hilarious as well

Blast from the Past is such a great movie. The scene with the postal worker right after he goes above ground had me dying the first time I saw it
