2 years removed from a National Championship, they fired Ed Orgeron.
O wasn't a Woody hire and Johnson doesn't have photos of him banging Gulf Coast blondes all over the internet or threatening radio callers on the air.
If O hadn't checked out and brought bad PR to the school the way he did he probably would have been given another year or 2. He's since said he has no interest to coach again, my guess is he probably wanted to quit after the natty but didn't want to walk away from the money.

It isn’t like Jay hasn’t won at other places and only had one year he coached good team.
Stats do not lie. Johnson's record got worse each year at Arizona, until a bounce back in his last season there. I'm not saying that this will happen at LSU, but it may speak to a cycle in establishing his program.

Hopefully Jay now realizes that he bit off way more than he could chew with the development this year. More established players, less projects.
I think he's a great developer of offensive talent as you can see with Bear Jones this year, but you can't expect to develop a whole roster like that in one offseason. There's only so many coaches and hours to go around.
He also spent all that time on Milazzo and hasn't played him as much as he should.

Like Braswell, Bingham, Holman, and Loer?

Noticed that as well. He lives and breathes his job. Nobody wants to win more than CJJ. His commitment to the continued excellence of LSU Fighting Tiger Baseball is unquestionable.

Yeah we were discussing this exact topic in our group chat. I think Jay knows he has majority of his own players and can’t rely on Paul’s guys. I don’t think he knows what he got into. Another year of this next year and I think he’s gone
It’s frightening to think that there is a whole group of retards.

Probably tired from realizing what a bunch of crybaby LSU fans are.

Ed O started looking this, Ed O 2.0

Seven National Championships in Baseball since 1990 and fans are still not satisfied. Add one Runner-Up too !
LSU will be attractive to elite baseball coaches.
The best schools will have off years. Only one team dog piles in Omaha. Think how lucky LSU has been winning 7 titles in 19 trips to the CWS.
It’s impossible to win it all every year. We lose experience at some point while other programs gain experience.
LSU is college baseball !

yep.
Just for perspective. Dave Van Horn, coming off an Omaha appearance, went 7-23 in the SEC in 2016.
Kevin O'Sullivan had a losing overall record in 2013 after 4 straight Omaha appearances. He's also flirting with a losing record this year after a runner-up finish last year.
Jim Schlossnagle, after 4 straight Omaha appearances, went 10-13 in the Big 12 and missed the NCAAT in 2018.
The last two champions before us were both awful in the seasons that followed.

Yea, especially when you are taking over for a coach who by all intents & purposes, was told to step down. There is usually a reason for that. The players weren’t good enough overall. Once Johnson supplemented what was left with Skenes & white, you only had it for 1 year.
It’s hard to replicate success when you haven’t even really had a chance to stack your own recruiting classes. This is probably the low point & in a vacuum it’s not even that bad

Why do you even post? It's always some angry a-hole bullshite that gets a million downvotes. Never anything of substance, just argument starting with other members.
Can't imagine what it must be like to live with you.

jj has a lot to prove that he can develop talent to large extents. we have gaping holes on the roster. not sure this is an overnight fix.

Did he not develop Beloso?
Did Jobert not take a massive step forward year over year with Jay?
Has he not developed Braswell?

This is the same argument I made when people (stupidly) said Paul only won because he had Smoke's players.
Didn't work on here.

I saw 34 year old Mike Archer look 75 in about three years at LSU. The pressure to win puts a lot of pressure on coaches. Archer wasn't prepared to be a Head Coach but if I remember correctly, Coach Arnsparger and those in power gave him the job as Anrnsparger was leaving. He took a 10 win type team ranked top 5 and buried it and it aged him quick.

It’s an endless. Circle. Apparently Paul only won with Smoke’s players and Hay with Paul’s. So I guess we have a black hole of a lot of success over nearly 20 years and none of that success or development attributed to anyone.
