Caitlin Clark sold more Fever jerseys in one day than the Cowboys sold all last year

And Dallas star linebacker Micah Parsons and quarterback Dak Prescott ranked first and fifth in top-selling jerseys.

Well yeah, she's the biggest name in basketball right now

Yeah I’m calling bullshite on that

It’s all propaganda to make women’s basketball relevant.

It makes sense. No one had a Caitlin Clark jersey last year. Plenty of people have Dallas Cowboys jerseys.
She’s the hottest name in sports right now. I’ll be curious to see if she’s still outselling men’s sports three years from now.

I am thinking it is bullshite since I first saw this as a meme but then dug into it a little further to find out "if true" she outsold all NFL teams since the Cowboys were the #1 selling team for last season. Also missing is the total number of jerseys that either Clark or the Cowboys sold.
Sold more than any other player on draft night

The latest example: Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin said that her Indiana Fever jersey sold more on draft night than any player in any sport in the company's history.
They took this statement and turned it into something else

Good for her but I’d like to know if a singular large order was the bulk of them

Seems like this entire thing is a combo of massive media hype and racial/social curiosity/white people watching bc black people in the media and WNBA keep shitting on the girl.
Who is buying her jersey? I can see it being deemed racist soon like wearing a MAGA hat or an American flag shirt.

That is my take on it as well, assuming it's true. CC has generated lots of "new basketball fans" that weren't fans before or certainly not WBB fans before. So they want her jersey, whereas established teams/franchises with huge fan bases already have jerseys that they want.
Also, another angle I thought about too is: are jersey sales down these days from times past? Seems like the jersey fad has worn out a bit. But that is pure speculation on my part with no data to back it up. It just seems like people buy fewer jerseys than they used to. I certainly see them less than I used to when I (rarely) hit up a pro game.

You’re telling me that more Caitlin Clark jerseys were bought in 1 day than the number of all cowboys players jerseys in the 2023 season? Yeah, I’m not buying it..no pun intended.

Not sure I buy it but I also don't underestimate the buying power of young white females and gays. Taylor Swift is proof of that.

This.
I would be curious to see how she did against NBA jerseys. The NFL hasn't become a star-centered league quite like the NBA is, where you have "Curry fans" "Lebron Fans" etc who don't really care about the team.

Makes sense.
Anyone who wants a Dak Prescott jersey already has one.

Thats according to one website, Fanatics.
It also only accounts for Parsons and Dak jerseys....which every cowboy fan already has if they want one of those jerseys.
Also, I would bet most NFL jerseys are bought in-person at a fan or appearal store, not that one website.
Now, watch if some big time free agent goes to anew team. That jersey will sell like wildfire. It's all about market saturation.

I also find it hard to believe that she outsold Leo Messi's new Miami jerseys, they're ubiquitous in my little area of the world.

Fanatics just started getting exclusive rights the last few years. I think MLB and NHL now have exclusive rights with Fanatics and some NFL teams. 3 years ago, you would buy jersey's direct from the teams or multiple sites.
