The WNBA isn’t relevant and never will be.

But Caitlyn Clark is very, very relevant.

You magnificent SOB!

I think you just nailed the MO and exactly how this bullsh# propaganda is catapulting The Agenda (Phantom Buyers make insane Bulk Buy).

We've seen the same Agenda-driven MO play out with "The #1 New York Times Best Selling Book!!" BS, ex: the 0bamas, the Clintoons, Lynn Cheney etc etc. -- when its obvious few have actually bought the clap-trap crap.)

Ah that makes more sense this qualifier is in his statement, " in the company's history." More believable that CC sold more than any other player on their draft night, not CC sold more jerseys than anyone else in the history of jerseys being sold in just one day.

There are a lot of cult members who buy because their Facebook feed told them Cheney was a hero.

Same people who hated her and her father 5-10 years ago.

Fanatics has been operating NFLShop.com much longer than that. The only thing different that has happened recently is Fanatics began producing their own branded officially licensed apparel for the major leagues.

I'm assuming they consider the company's history to date back to when they were bought out over a decade ago, since the original Football Fanatics has been around since the 90s.

Also, the article is specifically using NFL jersey sales at Lids for their comparison. While Fanatics operates the Lids Locker Room website, it's technically a different company, and a smaller piece of the pie.

It appears this article is cherry-picking numbers to reach their conclusion. Numbers that they don't provide, as a another poster pointed out

There’s absolutely nothing to back this up besides a guy on Twitter.

Let’s say it’s true (probably not).

How many people have a wnba jeresey? That number has got to be extremely low.

How many cowboys fans have a cowboys jersey? Probably 90%. I doubt cowboys fans are buying a new jersey every year.

do WNBA players get a cut of their jersey sales?

I don't know why people find this hard to believe, WNBA has 1 player that people will buy a jersey of, other sports have about 100 players splitting jersey sales.

Yeah this didn’t happen. Maybe on Fanatics only. But most Dallas fans just get their Dallas merch at Walmart while they are picking up their PlanB and their groceries.

I have never in my life seen someone wearing a wnba jersey in person. NEVER. And I don’t expect that to change any time soon. Caitlin Clark record sales or not.

This might hold water if they didn’t compare her to the entirety of the most popular NFL team in America

OK so 1 team out of 32 vs 1 player out of 100. It's the same basis.

A quick Google search shows that the NFL sold 385 million dollars worth of jerseys in 2022 (last available year i can find).

At $140 per jersey that comes out to 2.7 million jerseys sold. Divided by 15 (did 15 rather than 32 teams because cowboys are the most popular jersey selling team) equals 180,000 jerseys sold.

It's definitely possible that over 200k caitlyn Clark jerseys were sold.

Im guessing the reason it's so hard to find the actual #s of jerseys sold for nfl players rather than a list of best selling jerseys is because not a lot of people are shelling out $140 for a jersey.

I've personally never bought an adult jersey
