Is this a correction in the market or a start of a recession?

Wondering if it a good time to re enter the market

I always hold out until I am sure I can hit he absolute bottom day of each correction or recession. Buying ETFs and individual stocks allows me to trade in real time and also catch the exact second that the low point occurs (wouldn’t want those funds that trade at the end of the day). I’ve never been wrong either.
I also don’t believe articles like this one;

I’m still waiting for the bottom of the last recession to enter the market

The recession is always 6 months away.

What recession indicators do you see?

No one on this board can answer that with any type of certainty

I can. It’s over when most of the first page of MT is filled with questions like this. Not enough varieties of this question yet.

How profitable were you the last time you exited the market?

I think the S&P earnings should be positive year over year, and earnings outside of mega cap growth names should start to recover this year

Consider you might see it 3-5% lower before moving higher than where you sold.
If you can accept that potential before it happens, you won’t sit out in cash waiting for the world to fall apart for a year or two.

If you sold higher than what whatever your stock or fund is currently at then buy in ASAP and consider it a win. I just moved my entire 401k portfolio to cash right before Powell announced no cuts anytime soon. And then we had the Israel/Iran crap this week. Bought back in 5% lower. I don't think it was smart. I just got lucky

You heard about the Israel thing right?

Not like liquidation and paying a penalty and all that. We have a fund that acts as cash but it’s not called that. Valued at $1/share. But yeah, it’s obviously not a safe thing to do
