Apparently there is some micro-managing at LA DEQ

Most of this seems to be about people leaving under a new leader, which is fine with me. Sometimes you need to bring in your own people, sometimes people don't want to change, and you have to get rid of them.
But...
That's an absurd level of micro-managing. State and federal agencies need to work together and talk to each other.
Anyone work here? Is this lady really on this much of a power trip?

Senior officials who remain at the DEQ and who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal said the agency is also in turmoil over Giacometto’s insistence on pre-approving any contact made by employees with individuals in other state agencies, federal agencies, businesses and industries, and non-governmental organizations.
Giacometto’s actions may have caused delays in applying for and approval of federal grants worth millions of dollars, delayed routine inspections of numerous businesses for weeks, and may have violated employees’ rights to request leave under the federal Family Medical Leave Act, the aides said.

Federal grants come with strings like DEI requirements.
Best to not even apply for them.

Not sure how this could be viewed as a negative.

"may have" is the operative language here. Sounds to me like a bunch of has beens that have been used to doing government business like government business are being asked to follow a hierarchy and they don't want someone knowing what they're doing, or not doing all day.
Newsflash, every time I have a new manager, the expectation was to cc them on correspondence outside of certain business as they were learning what I did or for their knowledge of how our system worked. Never to micromanage.

There is a lot of paperwork involved in sharing data between organizations.
You can’t just call up Natural Resources, ask for non-public data they have, and immediately get it as another agency even if both are the State of Louisiana.
With DEQ in particular, there is likely a lot of paranoia and for good reason, given that the EPA is notorious for consent decrees to force changes without going through normal policy channels.

Par for the course in this administration so far. This problem is not limited to DEQ either.

Rumor I heard is that Landry originally wanted Giacometto for Secretary of LDWF. But somebody called in a favor to get Landry to appoint the young woman who's now the LDWF Secretary despite her complete lack of experience and credentials.

Nasty black woman on a power trip. Sorry but Louisiana is not Apprentice Part 2.
Never should have even been considered for the position but she knows Trump. There appears to be a little pattern of unqualified people from out of state getting jobs running LA state agencies just because they know Trump.
