The only way to fix Congress is through a convention of the states.

The fact that voting laws were not changed after implementation of the 17th Amendment to allow for recalling Senators is how we are where we are today.

If voters could recall a Senator or Representative, maybe that person would actually advocate for their constituents instead of a garbage political party.

Unless enforced under threat of violence, the Constitution is just a piece of paper.

"they" have found a way to game the system/constitution. we need a reset where some changes need to be made to the constitution. It willl never be allowed to happen, but it's not working anymore. Term limits, fed gov size limits, all things that need to happen but they will never vote their free money away.

Exactly. There are obviously a different set of challenges now and it has been an extremely long time since the elected have really answered to the persons whom elected them.

Keep pushing for it. It will happen and change will be made. Goooooooooooooooooberment officials are goooooooooooooooooobers!! We need to change it.

^^^^^Underappreciated post.^^^^^

Do you think Congress will approve term limits on themselves??? This issue alone is why there should be a Convention of the States.

A balanced budget?

A CotS will do the work that Congress won't. Get on board.

The Constitution was a blueprint for governing a small nation of Europeans in semi-independent states.

Madison, Hamilton, etc. couldn't have imagined this soon to be majority non-white empire in their worst nightmares.

convention of the states.

Best thing that could possibly happen to this nation right now.

Would be cause to fap oneself to dust. Progs would opt out en masse.

It's true that the Constitution is not being followed and it's primarily the fault of the US Supreme Court, by ignoring some provisions (e.g., 10th amendment, Art. I, Sect. 8) and inserting provisions which are not there (e.g., the "right" of same sex marriage, and nullification of state law, based on a Civil War-era amendment to free the slaves). When the national government exceeds the powers granted to it by the states, it is the right and the obligation of the states to reel the national government in by a convention of states, authorized by Art. V of the Constitution. That's why Art. V was amended on September 15, 1787, during the original Convention. Art V amended for states to act

I honestly don't think it would change a thing.

People can vote their representatives out now and almost never do. Everybody is convinced that their representative is doing great and it's all the other ones that have ruined Congress.

Term limits would just make lobbyists and congressional staff way more powerful.

Nope. Did you not see how well organized, and good at turning out folks the Left was in the summer of 2020? A convention would quickly, swiftly, and solidly be taken over by the Left. They have all the organization and ability to mobililze en masse. Conservatives are incredibly ill prepared for this. It's a recipe for disaster.

Well, you can't vote for a guy that's ineligible to run, right? So a COS would change a lot.

Democrats are going riot outside of the convention?

I think that 's all the more reason to have one.

They'll deadlock it until they get what they want. Just like the House of Reprentatives.
