He’s 85, I guess it’s time. I think he did PBP for the Braves as well before the Yankees

He did. One of the early TBS guys along with Skip Carey, Pete Van Wieren, and Ernie Johnson.

I loved him when he was with the Braves. Great announcer.

The Athletic is reporting that it’s “health concerns” and Sterling has said he will meet with the media and discuss it this weekend.

When you’re 85, you have earned the right to get up one morning and say, “You know what? I’m done with this grind and I am going to enjoy the time I have left.”

I’m a couple of decades younger and just semi retired, and I hurt 17 different places when I get out of bed in the morning, and I can’t imagine still doing it at 85.

He was my favourite

His best home run call imo was Robinson Cano - he would break out into this corny ragtime number of "WELLLLL don't cha KNOOOOWW, it's Robbie Canoooo"

Dude is a legend. I grew up listening to Yankee games on the radio. Would fall asleep to Sterling going ape shite on a home run from Tino Martinez or Paul O’Neill.
