Man, Miranda has a fricking KILLER body. I forgot just how sneaky hot she is. Flint banging her and looking completely uninterested is hilarious though, and something I didn't grasp during my first watch. He says it's because she read that book to Richard Guthrie, but that's not the real reason...
No it's not the real reason.
I assume we'll find this out soon then?

Not yet.

Kind of wish Morley's character was around a little bit longer, I liked him. He was one of the truly good guys I think. The end of episode 3 or 4 that ended with him telling Billy "that's because you don't know about Mrs. Barlow" was a cool end to that episode. They mystery of Flint just builds and builds.

IMO, this is where you really start to wonder about Flint as far as "Jesus, does everybody around this dude die? And is he killing people on purpose or do bad things just befall people around him?"
I think this may be why the show is so good. Flint is the main character, and for lack of a better word, the "good guy." But there are constant reminders that maybe he's not such a good guy. And that also goes for other characters as well. They all seem to portray "good and bad" but most of them are pirates, who by definition are bad guys who steal and murder innocent people.
But this show does such a great job of interweaving various forms of "good' and "bad." Hell, Anne Bonny is a murderous feline, but she also has a good heart at times for Max (even though she gave Max to her crew knowing they would rape and kill her). Vane is a badass a-hole, but has a soft spot for Eleanor. Eleanor tries to do good for her community, while also doing what she can to gain/keep control. Hell, even the pastor, who should be an ultimate good guy, betrays his vows and fricks the town sloot.
Nobody (outside of very few people) can be officially defined as good or bad. It's very similar to The Wire in that regard (good people do bad things and bad people do good things, and nobody is black and white...there's always some gray).

Bryson was kind of a badass himself. Dude is about to get attacked and he's making sure the chinaware cargo is bundled up safely. He had a pretty decent plan for sure that would have worked if the slaves didn't find a way to get a message out.
Yeah I liked Bryson and wish he would've stayed around longer. He seemed like a worthy foil for the pirates.

Ok I’m starting in on my first watch ever tonight! Now that it’s on Netflix I’ve got the green light. Just finished a rewatch of Deadwood. What a show for its time!

The whole thing with Silver, Flint, and the pig was great.
I'm still just along for the ride and don't have much to contribute in terms of discussion yet. But Silver basically saying the other guys said the pig was okay had me laughing.

Dark horse here…Mrs Barlow
While she is certainly attractive, I find a prim-and-proper, educated, quiet woman that knows her way around the bedroom and does things she’s not supposed to do much more attractive than their actual looks.

I’m still taking Anne Bonny. Pretty and built like a model, tall, thin and has some nice little cans.

You've been here long enough to know how to properly post pictures.
She's almost a little too gaunt for my liking. But either way, let me help you. Clara Paget:

The only 2 that opened were your last 2. I only use phone so sometimes I mess up on pics, my bad.

Nah. They are all bad. They continuously murder people. You might sympathize or “route” for a certain characters at certain times, but they are pirates. They steal and kill for a living.

The question was who was the hottest, not best looking. I mean all of that stuff plus her looks makes her the hottest IMO. The attitude/sexiness definitely plays into the hotness.

Max. But I like the sultry Latina look over girl next door blonde.
On episode 5 now.
I don't get Elanors motives. She is making some odd choices.

It reminds me a little of the Sopranos in this regard. It causes me to almost empathize sometimes with some of the characters but then it gives stark reminders of how brutal they can be.
One example is in a segment of Episode 3 of the 3rd season called the Doldrums, Flint commits an action on the ship that shows how harsh he can be. Some haven't gotten that far yet so I'll just leave it at that

I just started season 1 episode 7. I like the use of double entendre.

I agree on the Sopranos parallel. I had that in mind while posting

Not quite there yet on the discussions. As far as format goes, we basically discuss the episodes that were watched prior to the current watch schedule. So EP7 discussion will actually start next week.
Not that that photo is any type of spoiler, just don't want you to accidentally post one

Not trying to be a stickler because the thread is going good and it's pretty cool that so many new people are watching. But try and avoid mini spoilers if you don't mind.
But, not everybody continuously murders people fwiw if we're getting technical. Especially if were discussing EP1-6. No reason to think that numerous people aren't still "good" at this point.
