House finally passes surveillance bill after three stumbles

The House on Friday passed legislation reauthorizing a controversial government surveillance power — capping off a months-long debate marked by acrimonious GOP infighting.
The 273-147 bipartisan vote is a win for embattled Speaker Mike Johnson, who has struggled publicly to bridge the deep divides within his conference. But it also puts him at odds with some of his biggest conservative critics, 88 of whom opposed the bill, as he faces the threat of an ouster vote.

Strip the CIA of any and all authority on US soil.
Eliminate DHS.
Cut the FBI by 85%.
Just for a start.

Scalise continues to vote for this $hit. I woulda thought the baseball field would have set him straight...but then maybe that was actually a "shot across his bow" to vote as he is told.

If only Gaetz and Trump had stood up to this in 2018, we wouldn't be here today

This is a good bill. If you aren't doing anything illegal, you shouldn't be worried if the FBI takes a peek every so often at what you are doing. They need to keep tabs on us to make sure there are no shenanigans.

They will reward themselves now by laundering money back to the Uniparty via Ukraine. Thank goodness we impeached Trump for letting us know about this.

So, the left has weaponized the FBI, DOJ and CIA against roughly half the US population. Congressional Republicans, who represent the population that is the target of the weaponization, vote to support the continued practice and tactics necessary to continue the surveillance.
Meanwhile we have countless illegals floating around in this country and none of this seems focused on those who could do us the greatest harm.

It's a Politico article.
Of course they think it's a win because it furthers government power.

Next up: $60 billion for Ukraine.

We’re so lucky our small-government Republican speaker of the house was able to pass this.

The bill really means nothing. Even if it were not renewed the government would continue spying on us. Why wouldnt they? There is ZERO chance anyone is prosecuted regarding this.
Well unless Trump wins then they will probably indict him for doing it.
