Last 2 years I've gotten back about $500 per year from the state. This year I have to pay $200. Tax man says the IRS did away with some deductions. What is that all about? I've never paid state income tax.

Gotta pay for all those new IRS agents. Your share looks to be $700

If you’re in Louisiana it’s because a majority of your fellow citizens voted in favor of trading the deduction for Fed taxes paid for a 1.75% reduction in the top state individual tax rate. Should’ve hit you n ‘22, too.

I paid ours today too. We owed the feds $2200 and LA $300. I hate sending either one of them more money than we already have.

LA did away with deduction for federal taxes paid, hence the change in what you owe.

I got back $67 from State of LA for 2022 taxes. Had to pay $31 for 2023. Guess that 2% raise really got me.

I always owe. Rather than letting them keep my money I keep theirs.

I thought the same thing. The IRS also doesn't "do away with deductions."

I paid in over $5000 to federal last year. I started getting more held out of my checks. I was just told today that I have to pay $1,839.00 to federal and $115 to Louisiana.
