I know. I’m saying that was some sort of transport thing or feeding thing. What you say makes sense but my thought was always that the raptors were housed somewhere else. Muldoon says “she killed all but two of the others,” meaning they had at least 5 or 6 raptors at one point. And that raptor pen is what, like 15x20 feet? There’s no way they had that many in that tiny enclosure. But I guess I never thought it that being the only place the raptors were kept.

Yes I do remember. Sorry I should’ve clarified multiple backup systems or redundancies and not just for power. It’s no wonder the investors and insurance guys were skeptical.
Also, just realized too that the power didn’t fail. It was intentionally shut down by Hammond and Arnold to clear out whatever shite Nedry has running for his plan. So they were still functioning on power before doing that. They just shut it off (and then had Ellie reboot everything) to regain control of the park.

Book Hammond is a massive tPOS, and if Spielberg was trying to convey that for the movie, casting Richard Attenborough was not the best choice.
Didn’t realize until very recently that his brother is David Attenborough. It makes complete sense obviously but I never connected those dots.

You beat me to it, Vol, this whole story is about hubris and comeuppance. Almost all the characters have their preconceived notions overwhelmed by the distorted nature either they created or assumed to be factual.
By the way, Joe Mazzelo turned in a terrific performance as the little nerd kid. He then went on to excel as Eugene Sledge in The Pacific and then as John Deacon in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Also, I always wondered how the keeps turned around to head back up the tour to the T-Rex paddock.
And as much as I want to buy the explanations of how it is feasible that the T-rex could walk through the fence and later there’s about a 75 foot drop, I think it really is just a mistake by Spielberg. Because watching it lately a lot with my son, it doesn’t make any sense at all (and yes I’ve seen the drawing that tries to explain it away).
That drawing doesn't explain shite

Building on a tropical island in the path of hurricanes and no backup failsafe systems for power?
Not even diving into the book answer here: the storm didn’t knock out the power.
Nedry did.

Hey, he did get Richard Kiley to narrate.
So there's that.
wtf, was Durward Kirby unavailable?

We don’t know if Nedry earns a million dollars or more do we? Could be more of a spending problem. The bitterness of perceived value is what enabled the betrayal. I know lots of people who think they aren’t paid what they are worth but in reality are way overpaid.

You passing this idea you found on the internet off as your own? I saw a meme about this earlier this week, too.

I haven't seen anything about any of this before. I watched it with my son a few days ago and have been thinking about it. If I had seen something else I would've mentioned it.

I doubt very seriously he's earning anywhere near that much considering his reaction to getting paid by Dodgson in one of the opening scenes. Dodgson gives him a briefcase with $750k in it and offers $50k for each embryo he smuggles off the island, for a total of $1.5 million. And Nedry is beside himself with glee. If he was making a million or more a year he likely doesn't throw his career away for $1.5 million.

Isn't this it?
Also, I always found it kinda funny that people aren't supposed to be able to get out of the jeeps (they mention putting locks on the doors) yet there is a bathroom right outside the T-Rex fence/paddock.

No, why would they move the raptors from one place to another to feed when every other dinosaur gets fed in its regular paddock? Set the food out for the raptors just like they did with the goat for T. Rex

TigerPrawn...Okay, I completely forgot about several things and just looked them up.
In the first scene where we see Muldoon and they are feeding the raptor in the tiny cage, he says this:
quote:
"Fifty, sixty miles per hour if they ever got out in the open. She's the reason we have to feed 'em like this. She had them all attacking the fences when the feeders came."
So there it is...they literally are feeding them "like this" and don't keep them in that tiny arse cage all the time.
Also, when Muldoon asks Arnold later on to check if the raptor fences were still on, here is a screenshot of what the raptor paddock actually looks like:
So in short, you are pretty much 100% wrong.

The park was amazing and the trial tour would have likely gone off without a hitch if he hadn’t hired Dennis Nedry.

He also could’ve shelled out for a storm shelter and on site accommodations so the Park wasn’t left with literally 4 employees for the weekend

Did you miss the part where they turned the power back on? Of course it had a backup power source. This was over 30 years ago. It’s not like Generacs were all over the place back then.
I did chuckle when I read this. What do you think powered everything on the island? Yup, generators.

Nedry was ONE GUY!
How do you do a project this big with only one guy?

Having the book note Kiley being the narrator and then actually getting him for the movie was pretty sweet.

And he only turned off the fences in order to get to the dock with the intention of shortly turning them back on.
