I've started to get tired of the same old boomer "Erghghgh everything was better in muh time." This site is probably not for me. It's old. A ton of it is incorrect and dumb. It basically proves what a lot of the country thinks of the deep south. I am conservative, but this site reeks of bad conservative stereotypes. Some is agreeable, but 60% of posts are how things were better in my day, yet probably none of them if given the option would do it. You want Louisiana in 1950 with no A/C and electricity? or 1980 shitty cars that get 9 mpg with houses a lot less nice interiors than today. I'm not drinking the kool-aid here. With crime rates way higher in 80s/90s than today. Vast majority here will ignore that violent and property crime data despite it coming from the FBI. That alone is 99% the problem here. Just stuck in old ways that can be proven objectively wrong.
I'll prob just stay on Tiger Rant or SEC Rant. You don't get that there.

There’s stores closing due to theft.
Chains, huge chains closing.
If that is happening, crime is trending to bad.
It doesn’t require a statistical analysis from the crack epidemic to judge the crime today.
It’s actually pretty fricking stupid to do so.

On the original topic, yikes! Nobody wants to see that.
Now, on to your gnashing of teeth on “old boomers” pining for yesteryear? As a Gen-Xer, I truly believe the 90’s were the best decade as long as you lived in the ‘burbs. Home quality was quite nice and pretty much everyone had A/C. Prices were affordable and people could take regular vacations. Cars were reliable and efficient and gas was cheap. Most people came from two-parent households and shared a fairly common, and sane, outlook on the world. Internationally, the U.S. mostly kept to itself and our taxes didn’t fund wars that are a drain on our economy.
What exactly is better now for suburban or rural households?
