It is behind their wall but essentially he said she chose to put her team ahead of her as a 12 y/o.
Says she has always spoke her mind and have caught criticism for it. Talked about the post likely altering their article and how the LATimes had to write an apology. How she is proud of La and came home to be with the people here and win for LSU and La.

In this case Landry is wrong and owes her an apology.
quote:

Landry should consider giving Mulkey a public apology over such a blatant political play — especially when he attended an NCAA tournament game at LSU and could see that the Tigers weren’t out for the anthem in that game, either. As an attorney, Landry must know that forcing student-athletes to stand for the national anthem — while perhaps preferable and certainly respectful — is unenforceable as a freedom-of-speech issue. From my perch, it does not appear that Landry has gained the political capital he hoped for with this stance and with this criticism of Mulkey. For his political sake, he should hope this whole episode does not make her want to walk away from LSU, where she's been a wildly popular figure from Day One. More popular than he is. Especially now.”

Said that she is more popular than him…

I’ve been turned off by Rabalais over the last 5 years…

But he may be trying to win me back.

Kudos, Scott.

Landry got punked by the sports media and LSU haters. Libs of Tik-Tok weighed in and she didn't know either.

They all need to STFU.

At this point, let it all fade away. No point stirring the pot. Just let CKM get on with acquiring more talent for the team.

Landry is such a lightweight loser. Voters in any competent state would have laughed him out of politics years ago.

Landry does need to apologize.

If you accuse LSU, Mulkey, and our team of something they didn’t do, not get your facts straight then double down on the lies after your USL ignorance has been exposed…all for the purpose of grandstanding, you should.

Landry should apologize. That’s what Christians with character are supposed to do.

I would think someone on his staff should have told him the whole story about teams and the anthem. My understanding is that most teams are in the locker rooms for it. But it's not the first time politicians open their mouth and put their foot in it.

Dumb arse “journalists” didn’t even read what Landry suggested. He never said this.

In an otherwise promising couple of months to start his tenure as Governor, this was quite an embarrassing and UNNECESSARY misstep for him. I'm certain he won't apologize, but he definitely needs to let this go.

He’s playing a dumb game. With all the problems in LA he’s setting himself up to be blown up. Imagine a scenario where Mulkey came back and asked if he could focus on lowering insurance rates in LA and leave the bball to her. His approval would tumble.

lol. This is funny and sad at the same time. So ole Jeff was in the building just a week earlier and didn’t say a word about the team not being on the floor during the anthem. Most likely because he didn’t even notice.

Forcing people to do anything will only give you the opposite result. The kneeling during the anthem is all but dead but idiot like this will only cause it to become a thing again.

Landry took one news source as gospel and ran with it. As a politician he should have known better. Now all we see is him doubling down on stupid

Its good to see The Advocate finally take some sort of stance after all of the articles and crap that has been written by others about Mulkey. Its interesting that it took the governor's unenforcable right-wing stance on the national anthem for The Advocate to finally do so.
