That's a nice approach on Fridays, but they've got a bunch of good pen guys still available. Getting into their pen isn't a huge advantage. If the 1st pitch is the best pitch you're probably gonna see in the AB, may as well take a hack and try to barrel it up. I also get not wanting to let him settle in, but I still think we probably have a better chance to barrel up the 1st pitch than working the count and getting down 0-2 or 1-2.
