Eclipse is Proof that Social Media and Mainstream Press Suck

I saw a total solar eclipse in the 1970's.
It was less memorable than watching a woman's wardrobe malfunction at the beach. Birds went crazy, that's about it.
On Monday my work is shuttered because Texas cities banned big trucks from passing through.
Newspapers are pleading with residents to collect snacks to feed emergency responders.
All because the mainstream press and social media have hyped up this non-event.
It's exactly how they hype the political differences in this country - wanting to turn relatively minor stuff into a real-life tragedies.
frick social media. frick the mainstream press.
ETA: buddies in larger Texas cities said they had problems getting gas and groceries, but small-town stores seem to have plenty of everything this weekend.

When you are used to your wife’s arse blocking out the sun then I guess it wouldn’t be memorable
But I am still excited
But I am still excited

Perhaps if the great state of Texas didn’t declare a state of emergency for this eclipse, the media would not be making such a big deal about it.

Stores here in Texas are sold out of basic supplies. Gas is getting hard to find.
So, you're fake news as well. Nicely done.

Isn’t it supposed to be completely overcast over the vast majority of the eastern US that day so almost no one will even really get to see it that well?

Sounds like you need a total eclipse of the heart

A one-in-a-lifetime spectacle to be sure.
Definitely work skipping work.

ETA: this weekend the stores in rural Texas seem to have plenty of stuff, despite a few crazies piling up toilet paper and water jugs in their carts.

fricking schools in Louisiana are dismissing early.
Schools that aren’t dismissing have parents asking if it can be an excused absence for their kids.
Clown world
