Evil Knievel convinced a lot of youngsters that the laws of physics were conquerable.

How did we live through that. Either the one on the bike or the ones laying under the ramp

you don't envy this house layout, there's no help for you.

Many years ago when house hunting we looked at a place that had the 70s sunken den layout but in a nice area. I liked it. But yeah.

I remember when Cable came out, I think it was Cablevision. They had like 11 channels and later they also offered HBO that only showed like 3 movies a week on a rotational feed. Everything on here thus far is a serious memory.

Violent crime was higher in the 70s, 80s and peaked in the early 90s and has since been declining.

I can remember when we first got cable and HBO first came to it

If you didn't have HBO or Cinemax, you could tune to the channel that was HBO or Cinemax... and if you hit the naughty part of the movie just right, hold down the channel up button and sort of see the picture of tiddies... well... less fuzzy than watching it wavy/scrambled.

Limited to few areas. Today the dysfunction has spread and there are few good areas.

We grew up in working class neighborhoods unaware of crime.

Not VW van, but we had this one (a Dodge):

This particular photo is just a few years after the 70s, Mardi Gras day 1981. But we purchased it in the late 70s.

Another great '70s photo for those from the New Orleans area:

One of my chores was having to rake the shag carpeting with a plastic rake. Also my parents had beaded curtains in their bathroom that I thought were beautiful.

Groovy indeed.. you look like the type that woulda been hitting up Fat City in its heyday, then maybe across I10 to the Crash Landing.. then back to Fat City for some Cisco’s hot tamales……. What a time to be alive .
